Major General Alpha (4): He had to find something to do, otherwise his mind would be full of Zhou Qinghao.

When Gu Juntian was thinking about Zhou Qinghao, Zhou was lying in the medical pod, still feeling a bit dazed.

In his mind, the image of Gu Juntian kept appearing again and again.

Before, although he liked Gu Juntian, the mutual repulsion of their pheromones meant he never had any intimate thoughts about him.

He only wanted to see Gu Juntian and give him the best of everything.

But just now, when Gu Juntian appeared in front of him, he actually wanted to throw himself into Gu Juntian’s arms and kiss him.

It was laughable—knowing Gu Juntian thought of him as a dog and disliked him, yet he still wanted to kiss him.

But he himself was laughable to begin with.

As an Alpha, he had actually fallen for another Alpha.

Zhou Qinghao closed his eyes and lay in the medical pod.

At the same time, Gu Juntian’s fleet had already encountered the high-level Zerg fighting with Weir.

Gu Juntian had the urge to put on his mecha, leave the battleship, and fight the Zerg himself.

But this high-level Zerg wasn’t even as strong as Zhou Qinghao. Fighting it wouldn’t be interesting.

Even crushing it to death with his mental power wouldn’t be interesting—there was no challenge at all!

Instead, he wanted to try killing it without using the strength of an S-level powerhouse.

Thinking this, Gu Juntian looked at the few A-level Alphas in the command ship—men who adored him after seeing him kill a Zerg earlier—and said, “Do you want to go kill a high-level Zerg?”

“Of course! But we probably can’t kill it, right?” one of them asked.

In the past, a legion’s group of A-level warriors once encountered a high-level Zerg, and dozens of them ended up being eaten.

“Not necessarily. As long as you follow my command, you can definitely kill it,” Gu Juntian said.

Those strong, experienced A-level Alphas usually had their own ships; the few A-levels with him had only just entered the battlefield not long ago.

They were the juniors of certain major generals, lieutenant generals, or even generals of the First Legion.

The original owner, as the eldest prince and grandson of the First Legion’s commander, had not only the super S-level Zhou Qinghao and S-level Weir by his side but was also S-level himself.

His fleet’s equipment was top-notch.

Staying by the original owner’s side was very safe, so the generals had placed their young family members with him.

The original owner had planned not to let these young men join battles to avoid accidents, but Gu Juntian was different.

Since they were on the battlefield, they had to fight!

“I was promoted to lieutenant general two months ago, and you’ve been with me since then. I’ve been observing you these two months, and now I understand you well enough. I think with coordination, you can kill that Zerg,” Gu Juntian said.

The original owner had spent those two months chatting briefly with each of them and sparring lightly—not to test them, but to seem approachable and win them over. Gu Juntian framed it as a skill assessment.

“Lieutenant General, we’ll do our best!” the five A-level Alphas shouted.

“Put on your mecha and get out there,” Gu Juntian ordered.

The five quickly boarded their mecha and left the battleship.

In the past two months, they had never killed a single Zerg, which bored them.

They had even wondered if Gu’s military achievements were fake—his performance in all areas seemed average.

They even thought that if they went all out, they might beat him.

At the time, they thought following Major General Zhou would be better—Zhou was always at the front lines fighting star beasts. That was the life of a warrior!

But the recent battle had shown them Gu Juntian truly had skills.

Now, they were full of admiration for him.

The five A-level warriors entered space and charged toward the high-level Zerg.

Meanwhile, Gu Juntian activated the battleship’s combat navigation system.

In space, directing a battle wasn’t easy. For precise coordination, battleships sometimes deployed robots to divide the battlefield into coordinates using light beams.

This way, the commander could give much more accurate orders.

After setting the battlefield coordinates, Gu Juntian began directing them.

“Unit 1, attack (23, 876, 9).”

“Unit 4, perform maneuver A78.”

“Unit 2, attack (343, 97, 525).”

“Unit 3, use mental interference!”

Orders were given one after another, and the mecha’s AI systems worked with the A-level Alphas to perfectly execute them.

When they attacked a coordinate, there was often nothing there at first—but right when the attack hit, the bugs weak point would appear at that very spot.

Not all of Gu Juntian’s orders landed perfectly, but under his direction, more and more wounds appeared on the insect’s body.

“From here on, it’s up to you,” Gu Juntian said.

The bug was already seriously injured, and now the five could handle it themselves.

He wouldn’t command further—only step in if they were in danger.

Without his guidance, they were briefly flustered but quickly regained their focus.

They had already injured the bug, which boosted their confidence.

It was still a tough fight—after being knocked away, having mecha arms bitten off, and other struggles—they finally killed it.

They were just fresh graduates in their twenties, and now they had killed a high-level Zerg!

When they returned to the battleship, they were so excited they could burst, and their pheromones were flaring wildly.

Gu Juntian smelled them and felt disgusted.

These pheromones were awful—nothing like Zhou Qinghao’s!

He instinctively released his own pheromones—the dominant sulfur scent instantly filled the air, giving the sensation of soaking in a hot spring.

Every Alpha present, except Gu Juntian himself, felt weak in the knees, some even trembling.

Seeing this, Gu Junti retracted his pheromones but still felt dissatisfied with their scent.

His pheromones weren’t pure sulfur—they were more like hot spring water, not unpleasant.

But he didn’t find it very nice.

Zhou Qinghao’s mint scent was still better—he wanted to smell it again.

Pulling his mind back, Gu Juntian smiled at the young men. “You performed very well today. As you saw, high-level Zergs aren’t only defeatable by S-levels —you can do it too. I believe your future will shine brilliantly!”

He then smiled and reviewed the battle with them, pointing out some of the bug’s weaknesses.

He needed something to do, or else Zhou Qinghao would keep occupying his mind.

Meanwhile, far away at a Second Legion lieutenant general’s base—

The second prince asked, “Still no news?”

His aide replied, “Not yet, but with four high-level Zergs there and Zhou Qinghao having received that video… the First Legion will surely suffer a crushing defeat this time.”

The second prince said, “Good. My dear brother has stood high long enough—it’s time for him to fall.”

This entire situation—Zhou and Gu facing four high-level Zergs—was the second prince’s doing.

He had planted people around Gu long ago and knew Gu’s achievements were thanks to Zhou.

But he had never exposed it early—doing so would have limited effect.

If Zhou Quinghao still stood by Gu Juntian and denied that Gu Juntian stole his credit, the public wouldn’t turn against Gu Juntian over something so small.

With the First Legion backing him, Gu Juntian would remain a strong contender for the throne.

But if Gu Juntian had risen to lieutenant general by stealing Zhou Qinghao’s credit and then tried to get Zhou Qinghao killed—the one who had made those achievements for him—that was different.

Then Gu Juntian’s reputation would be ruined, and even his grandfather, the First Legion’s marshal, would face doubt.

This battle was his trap for Gu Juntian.

He first used a past video of Gu Juntian criticizing Zhou Qinghao to disrupt Zhou’s state of mind, then lured the Zergs over.

Zhou Qinghao was strong, but taking on three at once was still extremely difficult!

Zhou Qinghao would surely call for help, but since Gu Juntian’s beloved Omega had just spoken with him yesterday, Gu Juntian’s dislike for Zhou Qinghao was at its peak.

Gu Juntian might not go to help, and even if he did, without Zhou Qinghao to direct him, Gu Juntian would surely slip up.

Then Gu Juntian’s true incompetence would be revealed.

The prince could then gather evidence that Gu Juntian didn’t understand combat, to destroy him completely.

If Zhou Qinghao died, all the better.

If he survived, the losses would still be huge, and Gu Juntian could make him take the blame.

Later, when the truth came out—that the defeat had been Gu Juntian’s fault—the public and the First Legion soldiers would turn against Gu Juntian.

In that uproar, even Gu Juntian’s grandfather might not be able to hold onto his position.

The second prince thought his plan was perfect.

He waited a long time until finally someone hurried in.

But what the man said was not what he wanted to hear: “Your Highness, the First Legion has announced a total victory—they say that under Zhou Qinghao’s command, they killed four high-level Zergs in one go!”

The second prince’s hand trembled. “What?”

Four high-level Zergs—enough to kill Zhou Qinghao—had instead been killed by him?

Just what kind of monster was Zhou Qinghao?!

Thinking carefully, yes, Zhou Qinghao was indeed a monster—in the past, he could fight and still direct Gu Juntian’s battles at the same time. Now, free from dragging Gu Juntian along, he could perform even better.

A miscalculation. The prince’s face darkened.

Fortunately, he had already collected plenty of evidence showing Gu Juntian was useless and had stolen Zhou Qinghao’s achievements.

Releasing it would still ruin Gu Juntian.
