Demon Lord (10): No wonder many cultivators want a partner, it really is great to have a partner!

Gu Juntian’s current body only had the cultivation level of the Nascent Soul stage.

However, he possessed spiritual sense that was no weaker than Zhou Qinghao’s.

If it weren’t for being in the Demon Abyss, with his current condition, he could quickly improve his strength through diligent cultivation.

Of course, no matter how fast he progressed, it would be impossible to reach the Transcendence stage in just two months. The Dragon King and elders of Dragon Island were all Transcendence stage experts.

To fend off those from Dragon Island, they could only rely on the formations of the Demon Palace.

Gu Juntian was grateful that he retained the memories of his original self and possessed such powerful spiritual sense.

The formations of the Demon Palace were transparent to him at a glance. Not only could he guide Zhou Qinghao to repair them, but he could also modify the formations to make them even more robust.

Zhou Qinghao had never studied formations, but his strength was immense, his spiritual sense extraordinary, and his hands-on ability very strong. He could set up formations at an astonishing speed.

Starting from the underground palace of the Demon Palace, Gu Juntian led Zhou Qinghao in setting up one formation after another.

Killing formations intertwined with illusion formations, and illusion formations intertwined with killing formations. In just one day, the underground palace of the Demon Palace was filled with formations.

“It’s too troublesome to move around like this,” Zhou Qinghao complained. Now, he couldn’t move freely through his own Demon Palace!

He had to memorize the incantations Gu Juntian taught him to even enter his own underground palace.

“This is for safety. Your Demon Palace is too insecure. People can even barge into your bedchamber!” Gu Juntian said. “If someone comes again and sees your true form in your bedchamber, it wouldn’t be good.”

Zhou Qinghao thought about it and agreed that it wouldn’t be ideal.

He wasn’t afraid of others seeing his true form, but he transformed into it to coil around Gu Juntian while sleeping.

Before coiling around Gu Juntian, he would also make Gu Juntian take off all his clothes.

If someone saw Gu Juntian naked, it would be terrible! He definitely didn’t want Gu Juntian to be seen by others.

So setting up some formations was actually a good idea.

Zhou Qinghao obediently set up the formations as Gu Juntian instructed.

The control cores of these formations were all in Gu Juntian’s hands.

Zhou Qinghao didn’t see a problem with this.

He could still safely enter and exit the formations using the incantations, and if necessary, he could force his way through.

These formations might cause him some harm, but they wouldn’t kill him—at most, he might lose a few scales or something.

In comparison, Gu Juntian needed more protection, so it was good for him to control the formation cores.

“The formations in the underground palace are set up. Let’s go eat,” Gu Juntian said, looking at Zhou Qinghao. “I’ll roast some meat for you.”

“Alright!” Zhou Qinghao perked up.

Earlier, Gu Juntian had made a list and asked the plump demonic cultivator for various items.

Now, those items had been delivered.

Zhou Qinghao went out for a moment. He tossed the plump demonic cultivator a cultivation manual suitable for him, one that could help him progress from the Body Unity stage to the Transcendence stage, and then took the items away.

Gu Juntian glanced at the storage ring and was very pleased to see that everything he had asked for was inside.

Taking out a demonic beast, Gu Juntian began roasting meat for Zhou Qinghao.

As he roasted, Zhou Qinghao stood nearby with a plate, waiting.

Gu Juntian brushed sauce onto the demonic beast, and when the outer layer of meat was cooked, he sliced off a portion and placed it on Zhou Qinghao’s plate. Zhou Qinghao then ate it with great relish.

Gu Juntian would then switch to a different sauce, brushing it onto the meat so Zhou Qinghao could try a new flavor.

At first, Gu Juntian wanted to observe which flavor Zhou Qinghao liked the most, but he soon realized, somewhat helplessly, that Zhou Qinghao loved every flavor.

So he decided to rotate the sauces while roasting.

As he roasted, Gu Juntian also shared various pieces of knowledge about the cultivation world with Zhou Qinghao: “Qinghao, did you know? Snake-type demonic cultivators can transform into flood dragons as they cultivate, and flood dragons can further cultivate to become true dragons.”

“Can I become a dragon too?” Zhou Qinghao asked.

Gu Juntian smiled: “You definitely can. But even if you don’t become a dragon, you’re still the strongest. Whether you become a dragon or not doesn’t matter.”

“True” Zhou Qinghao nodded seriously.

Right now, he was the strongest being in the Demon Abyss.

Gu Juntian then asked, “Qinghao, how did you cultivate in the past?”

Demon Lord Haotian had appeared out of nowhere, and his experiences before becoming the Demon Lord were unknown to most.

Gu Juntian had heard many rumors, but at best, only half of them were true.

Now, he wanted to understand Zhou Qinghao better.

Zhou Qinghao said, “I didn’t really cultivate in any special way. I just practiced casually.”

“Tell me about it,” Gu Juntian said with a smile.

Gu Juntian’s smile was so captivating! Zhou Qinghao thought for a moment and then selectively shared stories that highlighted his strength.

“When I was very young, one day while I was looking for food, a demonic beast suddenly appeared and swallowed me whole. I thought I was going to die, but then I realized I wasn’t dead, so I bit its stomach and ate its intestines…”

“I lived in the Demon Beast Forest in the Demon Abyss. At first, all the demonic beasts there looked down on me and wanted to eat me, but later, it became me eating them!”

“I’m very clever. I found some things left behind by demonic cultivators and learned how to cultivate from them.”

Zhou Qinghao only shared the highlights, like how some demonic cultivators tried to kill him, but he ended up killing them instead.

But just hearing these stories, Gu Juntian could already imagine how difficult the first few hundred years of his life must have been.

For cultivators to become strong, they must engage in battles. And this little black dragon in front of him had been thrown into the Demon Abyss right after birth, forced to endure one battle after another…

Two hundred years ago, when he encountered Demon Lord Chi Lian, his strength was actually inferior. At the time, Demon Lord Chi Lian had gone berserk, and Zhou Qinghao had taken advantage of the situation to kill him.

But his luck wasn’t all bad. Demon Lord Chi Lian’s true form was a scarlet serpent, and after devouring his core, Zhou Qinghao had leaped to the Transcendence stage.

“Qinghao, you’re truly amazing,” Gu Juntian praised.

Zhou Qinghao proudly ate the last bite of meat and, putting on the airs of a Demon Lord, said, “As long as you understand. Be a good partner to me, and I won’t treat you poorly.”

Gu Juntian: “…” This little black dragon was really fixated on making him his partner.

Gu Juntian had to admit, he felt quite happy about it.

But it felt a bit strange to have a “child” patting his chest and making all sorts of promises to him.

Taking out a large jar of essential oil from his storage ring, Gu Juntian looked at Zhou Qinghao: “Qinghao, let me help you take care of your scales.”

Ao Jin took great care of his scales and would have others apply oil to maintain them.

What Ao Jin had, Zhou Qinghao should have too!

Most importantly, Zhou Qinghao was nearing adulthood, and massaging his scales during this period of shedding would make him feel more comfortable.

“Alright!” Zhou Qinghao, after understanding what Gu Juntian wanted to do, immediately transformed into his true form with joy.

The enormous black snake lay in front of Gu Juntian and said, “Gu Juntian, I dreamed that you were applying oil to my scales.”

“Have your scales been itchy and uncomfortable these past few days?” Gu Juntian asked.

Earlier, Zhou Qinghao had mentioned having pleasant dreams. Could it be that he dreamed of Gu Juntian applying oil to his scales?

Dragons often became irritable before reaching adulthood because their shedding scales made their entire bodies itch. Was Zhou Qinghao feeling uncomfortable, which led to such dreams?

Zhou Qinghao replied, “A little.” He did feel a bit itchy all over and often wanted to rub against Gu Juntian.

“Let me give you a massage and then apply the oil,” Gu Juntian said.

Zhou Qinghao nodded his snake head repeatedly.

The original owner of Gu Juntian’s body had once helped Ao Jin maintain his scales alongside others.

He had experience, so he did an excellent job this time.

Zhou Qinghao felt incredibly relaxed as Gu Juntian massaged him, his tail swaying back and forth.

However, as he swayed, Zhou Qinghao suddenly noticed something unusual.

In the past, when his scales fell off, new ones wouldn’t grow immediately, but they would start growing soon after.

But this time, the spot on his tail where the scales were missing showed no signs of new growth.

What was going on? Were his scales not going to grow back?

Zhou Qinghao grew anxious. If his scales didn’t grow back, how ugly would that look!

And if the scales in this spot didn’t grow back, what if the scales in other places fell off and also didn’t grow back?

He often lost scales during battles. If he lost too many, would he end up becoming a bald snake?

If that happened, he would look so hideous!

Zhou Qinghao was a bit worried and didn’t want Gu Juntian to see his tail anymore.

But at this moment, Gu Juntian had already started tending to the scales on Zhou Qinghao’s tail.

Seeing that the wound where Zhou Qinghao had pulled off the scales had healed, Gu Juntian was quite pleased.

As for the lack of new scales growing there… in two months, when Zhou Qinghao reached adulthood, the scales would naturally grow back.

Speaking of scales… Zhou Qinghao’s scales were covered in scratches, and it truly hurt to look at them.

Gu Juntian had once thought about fighting Zhou Qinghao, but now, he couldn’t bear to.

Thinking this, Gu Juntian’s movements became even gentler.

Zhou Qinghao grumbled, “Use a bit more force.” His scales were already a bit itchy, and with Gu Juntian’s light touch, they felt even itchier!

Hearing this, Gu Juntian increased the pressure in his hands.

By the time he finished tending to Zhou Qinghao’s scales, Zhou Qinghao felt incredibly comfortable. The snake lay on its back on the jade bed, wagging its tail: “Let’s sleep now!”

“Not yet. Get up and let’s set up the formations,” Gu Juntian called to Zhou Qinghao.

With their current cultivation levels, they didn’t actually need to sleep. It was better to finish setting up the formations first.

Zhou Qinghao grumbled reluctantly, but Gu Juntian coaxed him: “Once we finish setting up the formations in the bedchamber, I’ll sleep with you.”

At this, Zhou Qinghao perked up, transforming into the Demon Lord and standing up: “Let’s go, set up the formations!”

In truth, he didn’t dislike setting up formations either, because Gu Juntian was always by his side, talking to him and teaching him how to set up the formations better.

Every time he finished setting up a formation, Gu Juntian would praise him.

Zhou Qinghao felt that he had never been this happy in his entire life. He hoped this kind of life could continue forever.

No wonder so many demonic cultivators wanted companions—having one was truly wonderful!

Zhou Qinghao took advantage of Gu Juntian’s distraction to sneak a kiss.

Then, when Gu Juntian looked over, he put on a cold face and said, “What are you looking at me for? Hurry up and tell me what to do next!”

Gu Juntian, who had just been sneakily kissed: This little dragon’s courage was growing!

Well, this little dragon, all claws and teeth, would at most sneak a kiss and wouldn’t dare do anything else. Gu Juntian decided to pretend he didn’t notice and continued teaching him how to set up the next formation.

Seeing that Gu Juntian didn’t react, Zhou Qinghao felt a bit unhappy.

He was a little afraid that if Gu Juntian was kissed, he might also try to kiss him back or make advances.

But what happened? After being kissed, Gu Juntian didn’t react at all!

Forget it, just finish setting up the formations quickly. Once the formations were done, he could sleep with Gu Juntian!

Zhou Qinghao continued working hard, and by the time he finally finished setting up the formations, several days had passed. If it weren’t for Gu Juntian feeding him roasted meat a few times in between, he would have definitely thrown a fit.

Not only had setting up the formations taken a long time, but it had also consumed countless demonic stones, which really made his heart ache.

If it weren’t for the chance to sleep with Gu Juntian, he would never have done this!

Zhou Qinghao transformed into his true form in the bedchamber surrounded by formations and called out to Gu Juntian: “Let’s sleep! Sleep, sleep!”

If it were the Demon Lord lying on the bed inviting him to sleep, Gu Juntian would definitely have avoided it.

But now, lying on the bed was a giant black snake.

Gu Juntian casually took off his clothes and said to the black snake, “Let’s sleep!”

While setting up the formations, he had also been actively using his spiritual energy, which was now nearly depleted. This was a good opportunity to cultivate and recover his energy.

Zhou Qinghao coiled around Gu Juntian and quickly fell asleep.

He opened his eyes and found that the version of himself in the dream was still in the same place.

The dream version of himself seemed uncomfortable and was throwing a tantrum: “My dragon core is shattered, so they’re ignoring me now? Where’s Gu Juntian? Where did he go?”

Gu Juntian? The dream version of him actually mentioned Gu Juntian?

Zhou Qinghao grew curious.

  1. I wonder if his dreams are foresight into the future. Multiple times Zhou Qinghao would be at deaths door but have the will to survive after the dreams. In a way his dreams are helping/guiding him but maybe I’m diving too deep 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for the chapter ❤

  2. Those dreams are not the future but more like his “twin” Ao Jin’s reality. Somehow he can glimpse at his life

But he doesn’t know that, he thinks it’s he himself

    Thank you for the chapter
