Parasite (15): Awakening Ability

The speed at which the fog approached wasn’t particularly fast. If Tan Xiao had covered himself completely with his clothes, rushed out of the room, and run into the open where everyone could see him, he might have been able to temporarily escape the attack from the mist.  

But in the face of the impending danger, Tan Xiao calmly sat by the bed, waiting for his lover.

On both sides of the bed, they faced the wall, surrounded by several black industrial fans. Tan Xiao reached out and turned the fans to their highest setting. As the wind blew, the thin mist-like haze was pushed back a few meters.

The fan’s wind power was indeed strong, but it could only blow horizontally. In his opinion, Tan Xiao had vulnerabilities everywhere!  

Moreover, there was enough mist gathered there. As long as the thin mist condensed into a thick one, not even the cool breeze from an electric fan, let alone a level 12 typhoon, could disperse the mist.  

At the moment of crisis, Tan Xiao calmly held Wen Yi’s hand with a smile. This special newlywed couple, fingers intertwined, looked as beautiful as a painting created by an artist.  

And the meaning of Yan’s existence was to cruelly destroy this beauty.  

The gray mist spread across the sky like a net, enveloping tTan Xiao within.  

They could parasitize and, of course, they could also kill. They wrapped around Tan Xiao tightly, the mist condensing into a seamless liquid, intending to suffocate this human to death.  

Tan Xiao naturally saw Yan’s intentions; his hand unconsciously tightened its grip on the unconscious Wen Yi.  

After the gray mist enveloped him, he felt as if he were in a small dark space. Noticing that the space was getting smaller and smaller, he instinctively closed his eyes to avoid the gray mist affecting his eyes.  

The suffocating feeling that was supposed to come didn’t arrive, and Tan Xiao even felt like the surroundings had brightened a bit. His chest felt vaguely hot, and he instinctively opened his eyes. To his surprise, the strange gray mist had receded somewhat.  

Could it be that Wen Yi had woken up? Tan Xiao subconsciously looked at the lover in bed, who remained motionless and unaware.

When he ran out, he directly grabbed the working fan and smashed it hard towards the commanding general.  

Tan Xiao dashed out like the wind, using the fastest speed of his life. He quickly ran out, rushed into the elevator, pressed the button, let the elevator close, and then, while waiting for the elevator to descend, he sprinted to the garage.  

Actually, the stairs sounded safer, after all, they didn’t malfunction as easily as elevators. But they were on the top floor, and carrying someone down dozens of floors would definitely leave thim exhausted by the time they reached the bottom.

In this situation, taking the elevator was much safer. After all, it was a high-end office building, and the metal materials used for the elevator were of better quality than the walls. Moreover, this type of elevator descended particularly quickly, so even if something were to chase after it, it wouldn’t be able to damage the elevator that quickly.

In fact, just as Tan Xiao had deduced, the private elevator originally belonged to Wen Yi, and there would be no other employees causing delays. The elevator operated at super high speed, and by the time the top-level personnel reacted and caught up under the command of the leader, Tan Xiao had already successfully carried Wen Yi down the elevator and headed straight to the garage.  

During the run, it felt like there was a taste of iron rust in his mouth, adrenaline surged, and every movement was incredibly smooth, making the experience comparable to an intense escape scene in a movie.  

He chose an off-road vehicle with the best protection and spacious enough seats. Since Wen Yi was still in a coma, Tan Xiao placed him in the back seat and drove off at full speed.  

He drove very fast, and along the way, he observed several times, but no parasites caught up with him.  

After driving for about half an hour, Wen Yi recovered and still seemed a bit dazed: “What’s going on?”  

Seeing him wake up, Tan Xiao finally breathed a sigh of relief, answering while driving, “You suddenly fainted, and that group of guys barged in. I could only take you away.”  

He explained the situation as concisely as possible: “How are you feeling now? Are you okay?”  

Wen Yi nodded, “No problem now!”  

“Where are the two of us going now?”  

“Let’s go back to my place first.”  

He was talking about his home in another place, but before that, they needed to do a bit of disguise and then transfer from the subway station.  

The best hiding place was to blend into the crowd. Although there were many parasites in the streets and alleys, knowing that parasites could not just switch hosts made them seem less terrifying.  

He actually hadn’t figured out what to do next; he just simply wanted to take Wen Yi to a safer place and stay by his side until he woke up.  

The previous home was definitely not an option anymore. Now that he was back at his original place, he would actually be found by that person in a while.  

After all, the other party first took over the mayor of City A, and then became a parasite to the general. In this city, he could be said to have immense power. It wouldn’t be difficult to findthem through surveillance or similar means.  

Wen Yi said, “Then let’s take the subway. We’ll go back to your place, and I’ll disable the surveillance cameras along the way.”

The two people, wearing masks, hats, and sunglasses, dressed in ordinary trench coats, blended into the crowd taking the subway and smoothly returned to Tan Xiao’s small house.

When they were downstairs, they replenished some food and water at the supermarket and safely returned to the small house.  

Tan Xiao turned on the water and electricity at home, let out some water, boiled a kettle of water, and while waiting for it to boil, asked “What should we do next, wait?”  

This little house was neither a paradise nor an unknown underground fortress; those parasites would come knocking sooner or later.
