Parasite (14): Kill Tan Xiao

Wen Yi suddenly stood up from the small stool, and Tan Xiao finished preparing the dishes that were about to be cooked. At that moment, noticing Wen Yi’s unusual behavior, he naturally asked, “What’s wrong?”

Wen Yi remained silent for a moment, unsure of how to start.

Tan Xiao then said, “Didn’t we agree before? There’s nothing you can’t tell me. Even if I have to die, I hope I can die with a clear conscience.”

Wen Yi subconsciously retorted, “You will definitely not die!”

All that time, he had put in so much effort; how could he possibly be willing to let his loved one die in front of him!

Tan Xiao perfectly timed three “pfft pfft pfft” sounds: “I just spat out all the bad luck. If you think I’m talking nonsense, we will definitely live to a ripe old age together, staying by each other’s side until we grow old and gray.”

They had so many auspicious things at home, and the wedding day had also been sunny and bright. Everything had gone smoothly, and they had received so many blessings from people. They would definitely be safe and sound.

Wen Yi didn’t want Tan Xiao to feel anxious and uneasy, but if those creatures broke in, it would still be dangerous. Concealing the truth was obviously unnecessary, so he said, “A lot of those creatures have approached our house; they’re eating the walls.”

Yan ate everything and could digest anything, but food without energy took longer to digest. He had reinforced his defenses, but sooner or later, Yan would eat through the walls and find a gap.

“Yan has no ability to repair, only the ability to destroy.” They didn’t need to eat much, just create a gap to get in.

He could block the gaps as soon as he noticed them, but if there were so many continuous leaks, gaps would appear in other places as well.

Tan Xiao heard the word “gap” and thought it was not a good sign: “They are eating indiscriminately; they won’t eat the house and make it collapse, will they?”

Fortunately, they were on the top floor. If there were any issues on the top floor, it shouldn’t affect the floors below.

Tan Xiao was very concerned about the safety of the other residents: “You are the landlord of this building. Can you find a way to evacuate the residents of this building? The nearby residents also need to be evacuated.”

This building was too tall, with so many floors and so many residents, and it was still a commercial office building. Many diligent workers were still at work.

Although many parasites had already infiltrated among those workers, there were still innocents. Tan Xiao didn’t want to see countless deaths and injuries from collapsing houses happening before his eyes.

Wen Yi shook his head, “Not really, they only eat through gaps; they wouldn’t go after reinforced concrete.”

They were all the same kind; he probably understood these ideas of Yan, wanting a gap, and then rushing in together, or forcibly trapping him there.

He sensed the energy outside the wall: “So many are coming, too many; this is not normal.”

One or two were manageable, but with so many coming and not fearing their expulsion, it indicated that there was a sufficiently powerful master behind these creatures.

This city was very big, but even if they escaped that day, they would be discovered soon. Where could they hide and seek?

Tan Xiao was taken aback for a moment: “Are you saying they are specifically targeting us? Or, ‘to catch the thief, first catch the leader’?”

A large-scale attack, and they were gnawing on tasteless walls with discipline, which meant there was someone commanding these guys.

Perhaps he had long anticipated this day, and Tan Xiao did not panic as a result. Instead, he calmly and composedly engaged in thought. Just as he had said before, the worst thing that could happen was being eaten by Wen Yi before being parasitized.

At this point, he no longer feared death. After all, he had experienced love, gotten married, received promotions and raises, and lived the life everyone envied and desired. He had accomplished it all. Although there was no way to live a bit longer, dying before the entire world was destroyed by the parasites was, in a way, a kind of happiness and fulfillment.

Tan Xiao said, “We can leave here on our own accord.”

Since Yan was dealing with the house, it meant their home was no longer a safe fortress but rather like a jar, allowing the enemy to catch them easily.

He took off his apron and unwrapped a chocolate bar to replenish his energy: “If we’re going out, I’ll change into something more convenient. It’s drizzling outside, oh, and I need to grab an umbrella.”

He was currently wearing loose loungewear. Although it was comfortable, it wasn’t very convenient for moving around since the pants and sleeves were too wide.

“Not going out yet!” Wen Yi definitely wouldn’t eat Tan Xiao. Even if that day ever came, it would be when Tan Xiao lived to be ninety or a hundred, with all his teeth gone, unable to move or bite anything, and then passed away peacefully without any illness. Only then would he eat Tan Xiao’s body and fall into eternal slumber together with him.

Wen Yi pursed her lips: “Wait for me to investigate!”

There was no long-range remote control capability, so that guy pulling the strings behind the scenes must be nearby.

Wen Yi diligently emitted energy, using his consciousness to drive away the gnawing entities, while closing his eyes and sensing with his soul. The silver mist passed through the thick walls, leaving through the ventilation ducts, expanding the range of perception, searching for the detestable mastermind behind the scenes.

General Yan didn’t seem to have any intention of hiding. The windows on the two floors below were open, and he stood by the window, hands behind his back, watching those who came and went, relaying information.

Wen Yi was able to vaguely perceive some content from a part of himself that had separated, and so was General Yan.

However, these attacks on Wen Yi and Tan Xiao’s wedding house were not part of the general’s division.

Every part of his body was parasitic on the human body, and there were no extra parts to gnaw on the walls. If he left the human body, the body would quickly die.

Once the body died, the parasite would no longer be able to return to control the corpse.

The parasites were not necromancers, of course; they could only parasitize living beings, devouring human brains, but at the same time, they also replaced the brain, that intricate organ, maintaining the body’s normal functions as if the person were still alive.

This guy didn’t take off the layer of the general’s skin. Sensing Wen Yi’s probing, a mocking smile appeared on his face. The major general’s face was fierce; someone who had fought on a real battlefield and had blood on their hands naturally carried that kind of fierce aura that could scare small animals to tears.

The fiercest big yellow dog in the village had come; it was the kind you wouldn’t dare to yell at.

After being parasitized by the Yan leader, the man’s appearance was greatly enhanced by the energy of Yan. The rough pores became delicate, filled with the overflowing energy of Yan, and the eyes that always had a reddish hue now seemed to be covered with a thin gray film, with the color of the pupils faintly tinged with gray.

When the leader was thinking, that grayness became faintly visible, and even an entire eyeball could turn pure gray. However, this leader’s abnormality went unnoticed by anyone around him because shortly after becoming general Lin, the subordinates of the leadership team were also invaded by parasites, turning them into mere hosts.

Yan would not betray his kind, and it was impossible for them to expose the General. As for Wen Yi, he was an outlier, a traitor, and an existence that needed to be put to sleep!

In the perception radar of Wen Yi, the mid-ranking Yan was a very large energy body. If an ordinary weak Yan was a small red dot, then it was an incredibly massive, humanoid energy mass that was red, purple, and black.

This energy had threatened Wen Yi countless times, so when meeting with them, he always chose to temporarily avoid confrontation.

During the time he was on his honeymoon with Tan Xiao, this guy had become even more terrifying, dozens or even hundreds of times stronger than before. No, to be precise, it was thousands or even tens of thousands of times.

Yeah, even Wen Yi, eating non intelligent simple food, had become 20 times stronger than before, let alone eating humans.

The opponent not only ate people but could also draw energy from its kind through resonance. This was a powerful and terrifying enemy, like an insurmountable mountain, firmly pressing down on Wen Yi.

“Truly a brazen traitor!”

The general’s eyes turned pure gray, using his own energy to intimidate Wen Yi. This was a clash between the strong and the strong, as well as a confrontation between the leader of wisdom and a special traitor.

The gap in strength between the two was simply too great. Wen Yi suddenly collapsed in front of Tan Xiao, who quickly reached out to catch his lover.

Wen Yi turned into a pile of noodles in front of him, Tan Xiao steadily held him, carrying the soft-as-a-pile-of-noodles lover into the bedroom.

General Yan walked out of the office door and commanded the others, “The traitor has fallen; breach the door.”

The door at home used high intelligence, but whether it was opened with a key or a password, the place where the door opened always had a gear structure.

Without Wen Yi’s obstruction, unlocking the door was an easy task for Yan.

The man, wearing military boots, climbed the stairs step by step, getting closer to the home of Tan Xiao and Wen Yi.

Tan Xiao placed Wen Yi on the bed and suddenly heard the door of the house open.

But he just stood by Wen Yi’s side, motionless.

He didn’t take any weapons like blades because he knew they were useless; after all, blades couldn’t cause any harm to a being that could change its form.

A lot of mist floated in, and this was the first time Tan Xiao had seen his lover’s kind with his own eyes. He thought they were ugly.

Unlike Wen Yi, his lover was a beautiful silver-gray, but these were gray-black, like the fossil that had appeared in the news, grayish and emitting black energy.

“Useless traitor.”

The leader of the Yan clan looked at Tan Xiao with confusion, not understanding what was so special about this human that it had even caused a unique Yan to choose betrayal.

Perhaps he used some kind of prop. Yan knew that in this city, there was a very special type of person. They were called players. Using props, they could evade Yan’s attacks and confuse humans.

If Tan Xiao was a player, perhaps Wen Yi had just been enchanted by the player’s props, which led to the wrong decision.

The mastermind changed his mind: players didn’t deserve to be parasitized, and the ending of Tan Xiao should be total death.

He died, and Wen Yi might be able to “return to normal.”

General Yan raised his hand and issued a kill order: “Kill him!”
