The Strongest Sentinel (4): If he was a guide, he would be able to defeat Zhou Qinghao!
The original owner’s favorite guide was named Liang Xia, a D-level male guide of the same age.
Liang Xia wasn’t very good-looking, and his family background wasn’t great either. When the original owner first met him, he was being bullied.
At that time, the original owner didn’t know he was a guide, but still saved him.
Liang Xia was very grateful to the original owner, repeatedly thanking him and even inviting him to dinner.
The original owner saw that Liang Xia’s clothes were worth a lot, and was equally enthusiastic towards Liang Xia. The two chatted passionately and exchanged contact information after the meal.
After that, Liang Xia always sought out the original owner to chat. The original owner felt that many of Liang Xia’s words resonated deeply with him and was also willing to talk with Liang Xia.
They chatted for almost a month before the original owner found out that Liang Xia was a guide, and then started treating Liang Xia better and better. Their relationship became more and more ambiguous…
The original owner felt that he and Liang Xia had a romantic beginning, a natural development of feelings, and were a match made in heaven.
As for whether he was worthy of Liang Xia… the Guide Protection Association clearly stated that they must respect the choices of guides!
As long as Liang Xia liked him, they could totally get married!
It’s just that the guides were very precious and had high standards for their quality of life; he definitely couldn’t let Liang Xia live with him in that fifty-square-meter apartment in the outskirts.
The original owner wanted to inherit Zhou Qinghao’s estate first, and then marry Liang Xia.
Gu Juntian was very speechless towards the original owner.
He still thought the original owner was a bit stupid.
The original owner actually believed that Liang Xia truly liked him!
After observing the entire interaction between the original owner and Liang Xia, Gu Juntian realized that their initial meeting must have been orchestrated by someone with ulterior motives.
As for why the person behind Liang Xia would orchestrate such a scheme… the original owner could freely enter Zhou Qinghao’s house!
On the day the original owner first met Zhou Qinghao, the original owner took the initiative to ask Zhou Qinghao for contact information, and Zhou Qinghao gave it.
After that, the original owner would occasionally send messages to Zhou Qinghao, and Zhou Qinghao would reply to each one.
During the chat, the original owner mentioned that their living expenses were insufficient, and Zhou Qinghao immediately arranged a part-time job for the original owner that was easy and paid well.
The original owner was certain that Zhou Qinghao was interested in him, so he bought a gift and went to Zhou Qinghao’s place to confess his feelings.
The two of them started dating like this, but people outside didn’t know about their relationship—whether it was Zhou Qinghao or the original owner, the external explanation was that the original owner was helping Zhou Qinghao clean his room.
Sentinels and sentinels being together was a great act of rebellion.
The original owner didn’t want anyone to know that he was with a sentinel just for the money. As for Zhou Qinghao, he should be concerned about the original owner’s safety.
After dating the original owner, Zhou Qinghao repeatedly advised the original owner not to talk about this matter to others and to avoid seeking him out as much as possible.
Therefore, up until now, no one other than the two of them knew that they were dating.
Also because of this, the original owner never thought that Liang Xia approached him with ulterior motives.
But in the eyes of some people who had been watching Zhou Qinghao, the original owner being able to come and go freely in Zhou Qinghao’s house was enough to attract their attention.
Guides were extremely valuable in the eyes of ordinary people and even ordinary sentinels, but in the eyes of the powerful, guides, who made up five percent of the total population, were not that precious.
Ordinary sentinels spent their whole lives unable to find a guide to bond with, but as soon as a noble guide died, they could immediately bond with another guide.
Zhou Qinghao, at such a young age, awakened as a sentinel and went straight to the battlefield. What about the children of the privileged? After they awaken as sentinels, if they were too young to bond with a guide, several older guides would accompany them, helping them sort out their mental power and establish barriers, allowing them to live happily and joyfully.
This society was just so unfair.
Zhou Qinghao found it very difficult to change all of this, especially given his predetermined short lifespan.
Those who hated Zhou Qinghao and feared him were still hiding in the shadows, observing him, looking for his weaknesses, and were determined to ruin him.
When they discovered that the original owner could enter Zhou Qinghao’s residence, it was only natural to find a guide to get close to the original owner and extract information from him.
Fortunately, so far, the original owner hadn’t leaked any information.
He didn’t want people to know about his relationship with Zhou Qinghao, so he rarely mentioned Zhou Qinghao to others.
The original owner deceived Liang Xia, saying that his father had saved Zhou Qinghao back then, which was why Zhou Qinghao treated him differently.
Because Zhou Qinghao liked himself, the original owner was overflowing with confidence, firmly believing that Liang Xia had deep feelings for him. However, Gu Juntian recalled the details of Liang Xia’s relationship with the original owner, and combined with the original owner’s eventual fate, he concluded that Liang Xia didn’t like the original owner at all.
Liang Xia deliberately approached the original owner, not liking him at all but still taking so many things from him… If he wanted to study the situation of the guide, finding Liang Xia was definitely the best choice.
Liang Xia’s residence was not far.
Gu Juntian walked for less than ten minutes and arrived at Liang Xia’s doorstep. Coincidentally, a small car stopped, and Liang Xia got out of the car.
“Juntian, what a coincidence!” Liang Xia smiled upon seeing Gu Juntian, revealing two small dimples.
He didn’t look particularly good, but he was chubby and looked quite cute.
Gu Juntian felt that it was not a coincidence that he ran into Liang Xia, who was returning home, just after he arrived.
Liang Xia sprayed himself with a scent cover-up and was still a bit sweaty; he probably got the news that the original person was coming to find him and hurried back.
However, Gu Juntian didn’t expose the other party. He showed a pained expression, looking anxious, and said, “What a coincidence, Liang Xia, my spiritual sea is having problems, and I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable. Can you help me?”
“Of course!” Liang Xia said.
Liang Xia took Gu Juntian into his residence.
Not long ago, Gu Juntian pulled a mass from his own mental power and integrated it into the original owner’s mental power.
Although this made him feel very uncomfortable, it was probably because the total amount of that violent mental power in the spiritual sea had increased, making his five senses sharper than before.
In short, he was now much more perceptive than the original owner.
He naturally ended up capturing more information.
For example, in this house, Liang Xia’s scent was very faint, suggesting that Liang Xia probably didn’t live here regularly.
“Juntian, wasn’t your spiritual sea always very stable? How come it suddenly has a problem?” Liang Xia asked.
“Today I went to Zhou Qinghao’s place to help him clean his room, and I was affected a bit.” Gu Juntian spoke vaguely, holding his head and said, “I really feel terrible, Liang Xia, can you help me out?”
Liang Xia’s eyes revealed a hint of disdain, but his tone remained gentle: “Sit down, let me take a look at you. However, I’m just a D-level guide, and I haven’t awakened for long, so I might not be able to help you…”
“It’s okay, just the fact that you’re willing to help me is already great.” Gu Juntian said.
Seeing Gu Juntian say this, Liang Xia controlled his mental power and entered Gu Juntian’s spiritual sea.
If a guide and a sentinel perform a mental bond, it could completely stabilize the sentinel’s spiritual sea.
But without the combination, the guide could still use mental power to soothe the sentinel’s spiritual sea, though the effect was far inferior to the former and had a time limit.
According to the regulations, during the war, those sentinels who came down from the battlefield could receive the mental comfort of the guides.
While the sentinels were dealing with the beast tide, the guides also needed to be on standby at the rear, treating those sentinels who had mental issues.
But in the recent battle, there were very few guides appearing behind the battlefield, so many sentinels died because their mental breakdowns went untreated.
Although the number of guides was far fewer than that of sentinels, it was not to the extent that they could not even treat soldiers who go to the battlefield during wartime.
You should know that the entire Base One was home to five million people, and the number of guides exceeded two hundred thousand.
And the sentinels brought to the battlefield by Zhou Qinghao totalled only three hundred thousand, with a maximum of ten thousand having issues with their spiritual seas.
Even if one guide could only save one soldier, with just ten thousand guides, they could pacify all those soldiers!
The battle lasted for several days. During these days, did those two hundred thousand guides have no time?
No wonder Zhou Qinghao wanted to kill!
Gu Juntian brought the vast and tranquil mental power of this world, making it very easy to evade Liang Xia’s weak mental power.
He showed Liang Xia the turbulent mental power in the middle of his spiritual sea while trying to sense Liang Xia’s mental power…
The state of the mental power in Gu Juntian’s mind was much better than when he was at Zhou Qinghao’s house, but for Liang Xia, a D-level guide, it was still quite troublesome to soothe.
It took Liang Xia a long time to help Gu Juntian calm this mass of spiritual energy.
And this just gave Gu Juntian enough time to study Liang Xia’s mental power.
Gu Juntian was sitting, while Liang Xia was standing. Both were fully focused, studying each other’s spiritual sea.
And far away from this house, Zhou Qinghao was hiding in a corner, feeling like he was about to go crazy.
He drove Gu Juntian away, but his heart couldn’t settle down at all. In the end, he left his residence and began to sense Gu Juntian moving away.
He was the most powerful one since the Sentinels appeared.
His five senses were more than ten times sharper than those of an S-level sentinel, and only he knew this.
So, he didn’t even need to get too close to Gu Juntian to know what Gu Juntian had done.
It was precisely because of this that he found out Gu Juntian was secretly dating a guide behind his back.
He knew a lot more than others thought he did.
After leaving his residence, Gu Juntian kept sweating; the issue with his spiritual sea probably still persisted. Then… Gu Juntian went to find that guide.
Gu Juntian went to find that guide!
It was he who told Gu Juntian to find a guide, but when Gu Juntian actually went to find one, he found it hard to accept.
Gu Juntian and the guide met at the guide’s doorstep, and the two entered the guide’s home together. Then, the guide began to help Gu Juntian organize his spiritual sea.
This was not easy for the guide, so he sweated a lot. His sweat had a very unpleasant smell, completely different from Gu Juntian’s scent, and when the two smells mixed together…
Zhou Qinghao felt like throwing up.
He wanted to capture Gu Juntian again!
But that would kill Gu Juntian.
The high-level sentinel who vented his cruelty on the low-level sentinels among the civilians always ended up killing those low-level sentinels.
Zhou Qinghao gritted his teeth, using his last bit of self-control to return to his place and lock himself in his room.
At the same time, Gu Juntian understood the difference between a Guide and a Sentinel.
Guides and sentinels were both human, essentially the same, just with different mental powers.
The sentinel’s mental strength was born for battle; it was extremely powerful, full of aggression, and also helped the sentinel gather various information from the surroundings and strengthen the sentinel’s body.
Just like before the great disaster, when certain animals could smell the scent of prey or predators from afar, sentinels could capture information that ordinary people could not, and this was very advantageous for their combat.
It was just that evolution came too suddenly, and the human body couldn’t handle it.
This was also related to humans living in the underground city.
If humans lived in harsh environments like those insects outside, although the vast majority would die, those who survived might have developed ironclad resilience and a different kind of brain by now.
Now, the beasts, insects, and plants on the ground had all changed drastically!
In short, despite no significant changes in their brains, humans had developed overly sensitive senses, which their brains struggled to handle.
So much information was collected by the brain every minute; how could the brain possibly process it all?
If one could get proper rest, the brain could be repaired through sleep, but the overwhelming influx of information prevented the sentinels from sleeping well at all.
It was only natural for the sentinels to collapse.
As for the guides, their mental strength was very calm and non-aggressive, but it could be used to conceal themselves and also to sense the emotions of others.
Gu Juntian felt that a guide’s mental strength could not only be used to soothe sentinels.
They could create barriers for the sentinels, allowing the sentinels to block out overly sensitive senses. Naturally, they could also use mental power to envelop the strange beasts, rendering those beasts blind and deaf, unable to gather information from the air.
Such a strange beast would be slaughtered at will.
Moreover, the guide could also envelop ordinary people or themselves with mental power, making it impossible for the otherworldly beasts to sense them.
In short, guides could also go to the battlefield, and they could play a significant role there. Moreover, if guides of the same level were to fight against sentinels… guides had very stable mental powers, while sentinels’ mental powers were in chaos. As long as guides mastered the techniques, they could completely ruin the sentinels’ mental powers.
Of course, guides also had their drawbacks.
Awakening as a guide did not strengthen the body, so guides were mostly physically weak.
Guides and sentinels were a match made in heaven; they really were suited to fight side by side.
However, this was not the main point. The main point was… after understanding the situation of the guides and sentinels, Gu Juntian realized that it would be very difficult to cure Zhou Qinghao.
If Zhou Qinghao wanted to return to normal and live a long life, he must stabilize his excessively powerful mental power.
But such a chaotic spiritual sea was very difficult to calm down unless there was a guide of the same level as him to soothe him.
But the level of guides was generally lower than that of sentinels.
At Base One, there were hundreds of S-level sentinels, but only one S-level guide!
The vast majority of S-level sentinels ultimately sought out A-level guides.
Zhou Qinghao’s mental strength was so strong that at least an S-level guide was needed to calm him down. But where could they find an S-level guide?
Moreover, if a guide merged with a sentinel, and the guide’s abilities were strong enough, they could control the sentinel’s perception.
For example, if they wanted the sentinel’s body to be sensitive, then the sentinel’s body would become very sensitive.
Zhou Qinghao was the opponent he had recognized; he did not allow Zhou Qinghao to be controlled by anyone else.
But if it was like this… he couldn’t let Zhou Qinghao die young!
No, Zhou Qinghao absolutely could not die.
Gu Juntian pondered back and forth, and in a moment of distraction, accidentally pulled off a small chunk of Liang Xia’s mental power.
Liang Xia let out a painful cry as his mental power withdrew from Gu Juntian’s mind.
Gu Juntian reacted quickly and swiftly discarded Liang Xia’s mental power. At the same time, a thought popped into his mind—what if he became a guide?
If he were a guide, he could overpower Zhou Qinghao!

i just woke up and saw you updated thank you!!! What a great thing to start the day off with.
Zhou Qinghao is so brave for locking himself up in his house instead of blowing up…
But i love how Gu Juntian is determined to become a guide now 😂
