Doomsday Run (9): Arrive
“Hey, this is just a guy with a lot of fun.” Noticing that Xia Ruize and the other three were staring at his watch, the other party explained with a smile, and then introduced himself, “Just call me Dongzi. I think the three of you are already in a group. Are you interested in joining me? “
“Sorry, we are teammates who have signed a contract.”
“Xia Ruize” expressed his rejection tactfully.
“Hey, let’s greet each other if we have something to do. I’m pretty good at it. I’ve been through more than a dozen of the worlds in the Bamboo silk area, big and small, and I have quite a lot of experience.”
Dongzi didn’t care when he was rejected, and said a few more words casually before leaving.
Xia Ruize noticed that another thermal weapon user who was suspected to be a trialer had been paying attention to their direction during the process, but did not come to say hello.
The five identities of the trialers hidden in this convoy of more than 60 people had now been confirmed, and they were paying more attention to each other.
The night fell low, and a bright moon hung high, illuminating the silent wilderness below.
Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian took Gao Hexuan and slipped out from the camp where the convoy was temporarily stationed. They rode horses and bulls and headed towards the destination that Gao Hexuan had predicted through satellite maps in advance.
The three finally found a small hillside isolated in the wilderness. The hillside was more than ten meters high. There was a small flat surface on the top of the hillside. The surroundings were steep, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack.
They could easily climb to the top of the slope, but the living corpses chasing the pheromones could not. They could only be stopped at the bottom of the slope and screamed, trying desperately to climb up but kept sliding down.
The reason why this location was carefully selected was because less than ten kilometers away from the hillside, there was a small city before the disaster. The monsters wandering in the city provided the three of them with a large number of targets to kill, so they had no worries about there not being enough corpses and alien species.
The three of them repeated the process of drinking life energy while fighting like the night before. They stopped luring monsters only when they were drowsy and had a premonition that they could no longer drink. After dealing with the monsters around the hillside, they rushed back to the convoy camp with bottles full of life energy.
At dawn, the camp became active, and the pancakes they brought with them before leaving the base were already gone. However, the sesame biscuits tasted dry and were difficult to swallow. Many team members looked grim after eating and complained about the inconvenience of long-distance missions.
Fortunately, after spending two and a half days on the road, the convoy finally arrived at its destination, Dr. Mu’s research base.
According to the address provided in Dr. Mu’s distress signal, the convoy found a large cave in the mountains. There was a tall and thick metal door at the entrance of the cave, which looked man-made at first glance.
After verifying their identities, the door opened and the convoy was allowed in.
The gate closed again behind the convoy, but no one in the convoy paid attention. Their eyes were attracted to the cave. The mountain was hollowed out, and inside was a tall and empty square.
What was even more surprising was that there were at least two groups of people in the square at this time. They looked at the rescue team that had just arrived from the future base with vigilance and hostility in their eyes.
During the stalemate, someone walked from the edge of the square to the front of the leading car and introduced himself as one of Dr. Mu’s guards. After asking about the situation of the convoy, he marked an area for everyone to rest, and then prepared to leave.
“Hey?” Qin Feng quickly stopped the person, “Didn’t you say that Dr. Mu needs help? When should we leave?”
Qin Feng’s mission was to find Dr. Mu and rescue him back to the base. How did he expect that after he actually arrived at the scene, the situation seemed to be different from what he thought?
“Why should we follow you? Our Guangming1 Base was the first to arrive. If you want to follow, you must follow us! “
The two groups who occupied the square first had been paying attention to the new convoy. When they heard Qin Feng’s question, someone immediately taunted them.
The captain of the convoy quickly stopped Qin Feng, who was glaring and about to retaliate. They were new to the area and it was not appropriate to conflict with others because the situation was unclear. He wanted to understand the situation first.
Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian sat side by side on the roof of the car, feeling that the situation was interesting. They watched several captains lead their men to collect information from three aspects: the other two groups and the people at the research base.
The situation was actually very simple, and everyone would soon know it.
Before the disaster, this scientific research base was a national-level key confidentiality unit, with a good number of scientific researchers and supporting protection teams inside.
After the disaster, a group of scientific researchers and guards simply did not leave this tightly protected base and continued to hide inside to conduct research. Although the direction of the research topic had changed a lot, generally speaking, working life was not much different from before the disaster.
However, the food stored in the base gradually ran out. The supplies that could be searched in the nearest small cities were also searched by the guards. A group of scientific researchers who were really short of daily necessities had no choice but to send out a distress signal.
They were not desperate but wanted to choose the best.
Therefore, distress signals were sent to multiple survivor bases at the same time. After the rescue teams sent by these survivor bases arrived, the scientific research team selected a base that was pleasing to the eye and could help them take away all the scientific research equipment.
The latest situation was that it was said that the rescue teams from two survivor bases had not yet arrived, so the rescue teams that came first could only continue to wait.
Everyone in the future base team was dumbfounded when they learned the true situation. This was not what they were told before coming here!
If in the end the scientific research team headed by Dr. Mu chose a rescue team from another base, wouldn’t their trip be in vain?
In the dangerous moment, they were willing to spend energy and time, with the awareness of sacrifice, and run long distances to rescue them. In the end, they were told that they were not the only chosen party, and that it was very likely that all the hard work was just to be able to compete. Who could still keep their emotions stable?
The two rescue teams who arrived early were actually aggrieved, but they had nothing to do with the scientific research base. Apart from anything else, they did arrive early, but they were unable to leave the parking lot and enter the more core area of the scientific research base. All they did was wait and stare at each other.
Now there was an additional rescue convoy from the future base. Yes, the three teams stared at each other while inquiring about information.
After hearing the news, the team members in the team were a little restless. Many young team members complained in their voices, feeling that they had been cheated. Several team captains were busy comforting the team members.
Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian simply moved out of the tent assigned to them, found a corner to pitch it up, and then went to take a nap on their own.
The cave was purely illuminated by lights. Even if there was a generator, the scientific research base with insufficient diesel only lit up a few small light bulbs, making the environment extremely dark. They couldn’t see day or night at all, so what else could they do if not sleep?
Qin Feng didn’t dare to say anything to the three of them since he noticed Xia Ruize’s strength. He had nothing else to do but wait, so just rest.
With Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian taking the lead, many team members set up their tents and rested. They had been traveling so hard these past two days and didn’t even sleep well.
Not to mention anything else about this scientific research base, the big metal door really gave people a sense of security. If they had time to get a good night’s sleep, they could barely make up the losses.
The noisy young team members all went to rest, and the three team captains breathed a sigh of relief. They gathered around the captain and discussed countermeasures in low voices.
Before dark, another rescue convoy arrived, but their condition was not really very good. The team members were exhausted and depressed. Apparently they encountered a super alien species on the way here. The rescue team of nearly a hundred people ended up losing nearly one-third of the team, and many of the rest were injured.
So after they heard the truth about the so-called rescue, their deep-seated grievances were instantly detonated, and they angrily attacked the door connecting the parking lot and the interior, venting their emotions in vain.
“Please stay calm! Stay rational and restrained!”
The guard’s voice came from the loudspeaker, waking up the people who were still sleeping. In the dim environment, you could vaguely see the guards with guns appearing on the suspended platform high in the cave to maintain order.
The three rescue teams that had already arrived had to take action to help calm the new rescue teams. There was no way, in such a dark environment, what if the two sides were really to fight and accidentally injure one of their own team members?
After some chaos, the cave returned to peace again.
No one noticed that, taking advantage of the opening of the base gate when the last rescue team arrived, Xia Ruize and the others had already left the cave.

fu*k these scientists, and probably the base leaders if they knew the point of this Labotory, like people had to risk their lives so you could have options?
Thx for the chp! 🙂
