The End of the World Base Master (10):

Before Gu Juntian spoke up, Zhou Qinghao hadn’t noticed those two fourth-level zombies at all.

The reaction of those two zombies after they appeared was also strange. Fourth-level zombies were supposed to be very fast, but these two moved slowly, their actions neat and orderly, as if someone had sent them right in front of him to be killed.

Zhou Qinghao thought of the other zombies nearby that were under control.

He had always believed that some high-level zombie was controlling them, and suspected that the sixth-level zombie might be hiding nearby, waiting for a chance to strike.

But thinking carefully, even if that sixth-level zombie were lurking around, it couldn’t possibly be helping them clear the way.

If the enemy really wanted to attack, the more likely move would be to drive the surrounding zombies against them.

Zhou Qinghao looked at Gu Juntian, waiting for his answer.

Gu Juntian said, “I’m a psychic ability user. I can control zombies and also use mental power to probe the surroundings.”

Zhou Qinghao: “…” Gu Juntian was a psychic ability user? How did he not know this?

And a psychic strong enough to control fourth-level zombies had to be at least level four himself.

The Gu Juntian who had been so well-behaved in the base, never stepping outside, turned out to be a fourth-level ability user?

Zhou Qinghao thought through many things, and in the end, only one thought remained—Gu Juntian really loved him!

Gu Chengming’s body and abilities were fine, and Gu Juntian himself was an ability user.

Gu Juntian didn’t need him at all, yet still clung to him. That had to be true love.

“We’ll keep moving forward. I’ll drive away the zombies below level three. As for third-level and higher, I’ll let them approach,” Gu Juntian said.

He had hidden this from Zhou Qinghao before, so now he felt a little guilty.

But this wasn’t the place for long conversations. Better to deal with that sixth-level zombie first.

Zhou Qinghao gave Gu Juntian a deep look, then used his ice ability to dig out the two zombies’ crystal cores and his water ability to wash them clean.

He handed the cores to Gu Juntian, then leapt lightly back onto the SUV’s roof.

Even though Gu Juntian had concealed some things, they had only been together for a few days. And now, hadn’t Gu Juntian openly revealed his ability to him?

He wasn’t upset—in fact, he was a little happy.

From then on, their way was clear.

The lower-level zombies all avoided them, while those level three and above were controlled and sent forward slowly.

Zhou Qinghao, being level six, easily dispatched them and harvested their crystal cores.

All the cores went to Gu Juntian, and Zhou Qinghao’s three subordinates had no objections.

First, they hadn’t lifted a finger. Second… this psychic was obviously a big shot!

His ability was ridiculously useful! With someone like him along, hunting zombies wasn’t just safer, it also meant a rich haul.

Gu Chengming remained silent.

He knew his son had special abilities, but he thought they were limited to helping others absorb energy from crystal cores and cleaning out the zombie virus within.

Who would have thought his son could actually control zombies?

His son was far too powerful!

But Gu Chengming didn’t have long to think about it.

Gu Juntian handed him a fourth-level zombie crystal core. Holding it in his hand, he immediately began absorbing the energy inside.

He absorbed quickly, and soon the energy in his body became too much.

Just as he was about to stop, his son put a hand on his shoulder and directly helped smooth out the energy inside him.

His son was controlling the zombies outside while also helping him regulate his internal energy. And this wasn’t even his limit—just how strong was he?

The SUV continued forward until they reached the place where others had once encountered a sixth-level zombie.

Zhou Qinghao, already alert, became even more cautious.

They had killed over ten level-three and level-four zombies along the way with ease.

But a sixth-level zombie was different—it was powerful and could control others.

“There’s a strong zombie ahead. Should be the sixth-level one you mentioned… he tried to run, but I’ve restrained him. Let’s go,” Gu Juntian said.

Zhou Qinghao froze at his words, and the others in the car were stunned too.

Gu Juntian pointed in a direction. “Over there. The car can’t go through, so we’ll need to walk a bit.”

They did walk, and when they reached the spot Gu Juntian indicated, they saw a one-armed zombie standing motionless.

Gu Chengming recognized it at once as the very zombie that had forced him to self-destruct his ability core.

Had he been at full strength back then, as a fifth-level user, he could have fought it evenly. But when he encountered it, he had been exhausted, and had no choice but to self-detonate his core.

Enemies meeting again fueled burning hatred. Gu Chengming immediately launched a fire attack, setting the zombie ablaze.

Even while burning, the zombie didn’t move.

Zhou Qinghao’s three subordinates began doubting if this was really a sixth-level zombie.

Gu Juntian said, “Zhou Qinghao, kill it. I want to go home and sleep early.”

His father’s ability level was too low—burning even an unmoving sixth-level zombie would take too long. Better to let Zhou Qinghao finish it quickly.

Hearing this, Zhou Qinghao instantly split the zombie’s head open and took out its crystal core.

While he was washing the core with water, Gu Chengming burned the zombie’s body to ash.

Once it was clean, Gu Juntian extended his hand toward Zhou Qinghao.

Zhou Qinghao handed him the sixth-level core without hesitation.

He had been prepared to risk serious injury to kill that zombie, but in the end, it had been so easy he felt embarrassed to keep the core.

Gu Juntian held the sixth-level core, using his mental power to purge the zombie toxins inside.

Though there was a lot of toxin, the crystal was inanimate, so cleaning it wasn’t difficult.

Soon, the core was purified.

Once murky and gray, it now gleamed brilliantly, reflecting the light of their lamps.

Gu Juntian played with it for a moment, then handed the core back to Zhou Qinghao.

Zhou Qinghao refused. “This core is yours.”

Gu Juntian replied, “It’s useless to me. I only took it to clean out the toxins for you.”

“You removed the zombie toxins?” Zhou Qinghao was shocked.

“Yes, I did. Haven’t you felt lighter these past few days? I also cleared some of the toxins accumulated in your body,” Gu Juntian said.

He had done quite a lot after being intimate with Zhou Qinghao!

Zhou Qinghao was definitely not at a loss by being with him.

Zhou Qinghao: “…” No wonder he always felt utterly refreshed, as if brimming with energy, after sleeping with Gu Juntian.

“Let’s head back. Maybe we’ll run into a few more zombies along the way,” Gu Juntian said.

With the sixth-level zombie dead, they turned the SUV around.

On the way back, they did kill a few more zombies, but they were all level three or four—no higher.

One of Zhou Qinghao’s men muttered, “Why haven’t we come across any fifth- or sixth-level zombies?”

Another teased, “Weren’t you always praying not to encounter them before?”

“Cough, cough… isn’t the situation different now?”

It really was different—after all, they had a boss riding with them!

And what a boss! He had controlled a sixth-level zombie just like that!

He even said the sixth-level core was useless to him. Could he already be level seven?

Level seven—that would make him the strongest of all ability users!

Then again, it wasn’t surprising. With his skills, getting crystal cores to upgrade would be child’s play.

At one in the morning, they returned to the gates of the safe base.

Their harvest was considerable: seventeen level-three cores and eight level-four cores.

Gu Juntian handed out three level-four cores to Zhou Qinghao’s men, one each. “Next time, let’s hunt zombies together.”

The men were overjoyed. “Boss, just say the word when you need us!”

“We’ll obey every order!”

“Boss, if you tell me to go east, I’ll never go west!”

Before Gu Juntian could reply, Zhou Qinghao said, “Get out of the car. I’m going home.”

These same men had once mocked Gu Juntian, calling him lazy.

Now that they had seen his true strength, their attitudes flipped instantly. Hah!

After dropping them off, Zhou Qinghao drove toward the villa.

On the way, Gu Chengming suddenly spoke. “You really don’t need to wear that mask anymore.”

He had made Gu Juntian wear it to protect him, worried that people would cause trouble if they discovered his special ability.

But his son’s power far exceeded his imagination. No one could cause him trouble now.

Which meant his son didn’t need to hide at all!

He should display his strength openly, become the strongest in the base!

No—not just the base. That would be too small a vision.

With his son’s abilities, he could develop in the big bases.

With both him and Zhou Qinghao helping, his son could even take control of them!

Right now, the safe zones across the country each governed themselves. If his son worked hard enough, he might even unify them all.

People in their country had always been obsessed with unification. Just imagining his son unifying the nation filled Gu Chengming with excitement.

He immediately started outlining his plans.

Gu Juntian: “…” He did want to accomplish something big.

But his father truly deserved the title of “ultimate striver”—he was already mapping out his road ahead!

“Dad, let’s take it step by step…”

“Yes, step by step. Tomorrow, let’s start by wiping out the Thunder Squad!” Gu Chengming said.

Shao Huirui’s Thunder Squad had always disobeyed his orders. He had disliked Shao Huirui for a long time.

Tomorrow, he would have his son beat him up and take over Thunder Squad!
