Orc Priest (15):

In the original storyline, Bai Yutian was never interrogated by the Hippo Tribe.

After the original owner of Gu Juntian’s body gave Bai Yutian the identity of a priest from a great tribe, Bai Yutian filled out the rest of his persona himself, and from then on in the Hippo Tribe, he enjoyed the same treatment as Gu Juntian and Zhou Qinghao.

But now, Bai Yutian was still tied up, sitting on the ground as he answered Zhou Qinghao’s questions.

The hunters hadn’t spoken much to him. Since he didn’t understand this world, he had no way of building up his own persona. All he could say was that he couldn’t remember.

He couldn’t even say what his beast form was.

Such a Bai Yutian looked very suspicious.

Zhou Qinghao noticed that when the people of the tribe looked at Bai Yutian, their eyes held deep wariness.

If, at this moment, he claimed that Bai Yutian’s identity was false and ordered the tribe to kill him, they would certainly do it.

That thought flashing through his mind startled Zhou Qinghao.

He was a priest. A priest must not be selfish; he had to be fair.

He and the previous priest had failed at this point—they had favored Gu Juntian, but they had never harmed anyone.

But now, he actually wanted to kill someone.

Zhou Qinghao felt a little disgusted with himself.

Gu Juntian didn’t know what Zhou Qinghao was thinking. Seeing Zhou Qinghao silent, he thought Zhou Qinghao found Bai Yutian difficult to handle.

Gu Juntian had already made up his mind about Bai Yutian. He stepped forward and tore off the ropes binding him.

Finally freed, Bai Yutian had barely breathed a sigh of relief when Gu Juntian snatched the bag from his hands.

Gu Juntian handed the bag to Zhou Qinghao, then spoke to the tribesmen: “This person’s skin is delicate and tender. He shouldn’t be a spy sent by another tribe, and he has no ability to harm us. Here’s what we’ll do: Little Cat, Little Tree, you two take him to wash up, and check his belongings. Take everything except his clothes and bring it to me.”

The “Little Cat” and “Little Tree” Gu Juntian referred to were two boys in the tribe, about eleven or twelve years old.

Their beast forms were weak, and since they were young, they hadn’t joined the hunting team. They usually worked with the gathering team.

But they were clever—after finishing the gathering tasks, they could still catch fish to supplement their meals.

Their parents no longer raised them, and they usually received little meat. At their age, they ate a lot, so they had to find ways to get food.

Gu Juntian admired them and decided to have them keep watch over Bai Yutian.

Thinking this, Gu Juntian added, “I’ve been staying with the priest lately, so you two take him to live in my house. Be sure to watch him carefully.”

“Okay,” Little Cat and Little Tree immediately agreed.

Gu Juntian did not intend to give Bai Yutian a lofty identity. But Bai Yutian had let slip to the original owner that he had just graduated high school.

Still just a kid. Gu Juntian wasn’t planning to torment him.

As for taking his belongings… since Bai Yutian would be living in the tribe from now on, he would have to get used to prehistoric life sooner or later.

Once Gu Juntian spoke, Zhou Qinghao said nothing more, silently listening to his arrangements.

Things had already changed a lot, but still, Gu Juntian had let Bai Yutian live in his house.

For a moment Zhou Qinghao grew nervous, but he quickly calmed down.

No, the situation was different. This time, Gu Juntian wasn’t living with Bai Yutian and even had Little Cat and Little Tree watch him.

Little Cat and Little Tree took Bai Yutian away. Gu Juntian turned to Zhou Qinghao. “Aqing, I’m going to distribute the meat.”

Bai Yutian was taken by the two boys to be searched and bathed.

Everything on him except his clothes was taken away, but he didn’t dare complain.

This world was dangerous—people here could turn into animals, and outside there were dinosaurs.

When he had been in the tribe, he had even seen bones thicker than his waist.

In a place like this, there was no way he could survive alone. He had to stay in the tribe.

Bai Yutian didn’t want to die, so he obediently followed instructions and even tried to learn about the tribe from Little Cat and Little Tree.

And just as they finished talking, it was time for the meat to be divided.

Lately, the tribe had plenty of food. Everyone could get meat, and the innards were free to eat.

But as a newcomer, Bai Yutian hadn’t done any work in the tribe yet, so he wasn’t entitled to any meat.

Seeing him pitiful, Gu Juntian cut two fist-sized chunks from his own share and gave them to him. “You didn’t work today, so you shouldn’t get any meat. This is from me. Tomorrow, you’ll join the gathering team and work with the others—then you’ll be able to get your share.”

Bai Yutian had already learned Gu Juntian’s identity. “Thank you, Chief. Chief, about my things…”

Gu Juntian smiled. “Do you want your things back, or do you want to join the tribe?”

Without hesitation, Bai Yutian said, “Join the tribe.”

The things he carried—food and such—weren’t of much use in this prehistoric society.

The phone and power bank could be used to put on an act, but they would eventually run out of power, and if they got wet, they’d be useless.

What mattered most now was staying in the tribe.

Gu Juntian was very satisfied with his answer. Taking both his and Zhou Qinghao’s share of meat, he returned to Zhou Qinghao’s house.

Zhou Qinghao was cooking porridge inside. When Gu Juntian entered, he looked up.

Bai Yutian’s appearance had kept him unsettled.

He knew Gu Juntian’s arrangements for Bai Yutian were proper, but he still worried—what if Gu Juntian fell for Bai Yutian?

Now that Gu Juntian was back, he finally felt relieved.

Gu Juntian set the meat aside, waiting for Zhou Qinghao to finish the porridge before cooking it. Then he began checking Bai Yutian’s belongings.

Rummaging through, he found that Bai Yutian’s bag held very little.

Couldn’t Bai Yutian have brought more food? Even a pack of instant noodles would be good!

Gu Juntian took out the beef jerky, chocolate, and unopened sports drinks. As for the rest, he glanced through them, then put them back, planning to return them to Bai Yutian.

Those things weren’t useful to him.

While Gu Juntian examined Bai Yutian’s items, Zhou Qinghao watched.

Some of the things he had never seen before, some he had seen in his previous life.

The transparent bottle Bai Yutian used for water had once made the tribespeople envious, thinking it a divine object.

And Bai Yutian had something that emitted light, which made the tribe believe even more strongly that his origins were extraordinary.

Now, those things were right in front of him.

Gu Juntian said, “Aqing, Bai Yutian’s background isn’t simple. If we keep him here, maybe we can learn some knowledge from him.”

“I know,” Zhou Qinghao replied.

Indeed, they should keep Bai Yutian—he knew a lot.

Once the porridge was finished and taken away, Zhou Qinghao began boiling the meat.

While the meat cooked, Gu Juntian opened a pack of beef jerky.

It was satay-flavored, clearly made with lots of seasoning. The smell was incredibly tempting.

In the original storyline, the original owner had tasted it once and never forgotten it.

Gu Juntian tore off a small piece to taste, then tore off a big piece and held it to Zhou Qinghao’s mouth. “Aqing, this is food. Try it.”

Zhou Qinghao opened his mouth and ate it. After chewing, he was stunned.

Never in his life had he eaten anything so delicious!

No wonder Bai Yutian always thought the tribe’s food was terrible.

Bai Yutian really was extraordinary. No wonder in the prophecy Gu Juntian valued him so much.

While Zhou Qinghao thought this, a pack of beef jerky was stuffed into his arms.

Gu Juntian handed him the opened jerky. “Aqing, keep this and eat it slowly.”

The rest of the food he put into Zhou Qinghao’s cabinet. “These should also be edible. Let’s save them for later.”

Zhou Qinghao’s heart settled a little.

Lately, Gu Juntian had been very good to him, and today his attitude toward Bai Yutian was still quite ordinary.

Gu Juntian probably wouldn’t like Bai Yutian as in the original storyline.

As Zhou Qinghao mulled over these thoughts, Gu Juntian slid the door bolt into place.

Zhou Qinghao immediately realized what Gu Juntian wanted.

Was Gu Juntian’s energy a bit too much? None of the other men in the tribe were like this!

When everything was over, Zhou Qinghao drowsily fell asleep again.

But perhaps because his heart was uneasy, he suddenly woke up in the middle of the night.

No one was beside him!

Realizing this, his face went blank for a moment.

He suddenly remembered—several mornings before, when he woke up, Gu Juntian hadn’t been at his side either.

Did Gu Juntian dislike him, leaving once he fell asleep?

Had Gu Juntian gone to find Bai Yutian?

Taking a deep breath, Zhou Qinghao got up and went outside to look for him.

But just as he opened the door, he saw a tiger blocking the entrance.

For a moment, Zhou Qinghao was stunned.

Gu Juntian, coming back to his senses from cultivation, instantly shifted to human form. “Aqing, are you going to the toilet?”

Zhou Qinghao asked, “Why are you sleeping outside?”

Gu Juntian replied, “I like turning into a tiger and sleeping outside… Want to turn into a rabbit and sleep with me?”

If Zhou Qinghao turned into a rabbit and slept with him, he could guide him, helping him cultivate.

The little rabbit was really cute—he wanted to hug him, wanted to “eat” him.

Thinking this, Gu Juntian held Zhou Qinghao close, and immediately had another reaction.

Zhou Qinghao: “…”

Zhou Qinghao transformed into a rabbit and slept beside the tiger.

Lately, Gu Juntian loved sleeping as a tiger.

Zhou Qinghao didn’t know why, but as long as Gu Juntian wasn’t going to Bai Yutian, it was fine.

Looking at the small rabbit nestled in his arms, Gu Juntian couldn’t resist sticking out his tongue to lick, making the rabbit’s fur a complete mess.

After licking, he lay on his side, placed the little rabbit on his stomach, and continued cultivating, sending spiritual energy into the rabbit’s body as well.

Unknowingly, Zhou Qinghao began cultivating like this.

That night, Bai Yutian also slept poorly.

He was pondering his future.

After chatting with Little Cat and Little Tree, he had learned that this tribe worshiped the Beast God, and that the most respected person was the priest.

Should he use his phone to pretend he was the Beast God’s messenger?

Never mind hunting—he felt he wouldn’t even manage gathering work.

But pretending to be a priest? That he could do.

He was an atheist and didn’t believe in any Beast God. In his eyes, priests were just shamans.

Though he didn’t know herbal medicine, he did have a lot of knowledge. Maybe he could be a priest?
