Major General Alpha (3): Why is his mind full of Zhou Qinghao?

Once reinforcements arrived, the pressure on Zhou Qinghao and his group instantly eased.

At that moment, Gu Juntian made his move!

While Gu Juntian used his mental power to interfere with the advanced Zerg, the starship’s weapons fired in unison, injuring it on the spot.

The warriors of the Human Empire who were participating in the battle were overjoyed and launched an even fiercer offensive.

Finally, that high level Zerg was killed under the combined bombardment.

This situation enraged the two high level Zergs fighting Zhou Qinghao, and their attacks became even more ferocious.

Zhou Qinghao’s strength far surpassed that of an ordinary S-level powerhouse. While others could at most deal with one advanced Zerg at a time, he could face two at once.

But even for him, the pressure was immense.

Now that the two Zergs had gone berserk, he found them even harder to match.

The more critical the situation, the calmer he became. His mental power condensed into a beam, striking the two Zergs in front of him at every opening.

“Impressive.” Watching Zhou Qinghao’s battle on the starship’s screen, Gu Juntian couldn’t help but exclaim.

The sight of Zhou Qinghao fighting the Zergs was enough to set one’s blood boiling!

He didn’t want to fall in love with Zhou Qinghao — but he did want to fight him.

In this world, perhaps only Zhou Qinghao could be his worthy opponent!

This thought flashed through Gu Juntian’s mind as he quickly issued a series of commands.

The command ship he was on moved closer to the two massive Zergs — and between them, the mech piloted by Zhou Qinghao, looking tiny by comparison.

Through the starship’s hull, Gu Juntian’s vast mental power stabbed into one of the Zergs.

Sensing danger, that advanced Zerg immediately tried to flee, and the other one fighting Zhou Qinghao also began to run.

The two advanced Zergs fled quickly, but they didn’t get far before falling into an ambush.

Most thermal weapons were useless against advanced Zergs, but there were a few that could harm them, and they still had weak spots.

The ambush Gu Juntian had arranged in advance wounded both Zergs.

He opened a communication channel to Zhou Qinghao and said, “One each!”

With that, he took over the control of the starship as commander and began attacking one of the advanced starbeasts.

The original owner of this body had studied piloting warships at the military academy and had been good at piloting virtual ones.

But in real battle, he had always hesitated, afraid of piloting poorly and being laughed at.

So for years, he had never actually flown a warship.

Now, when Gu Juntian suddenly seized control, the ship’s captain was startled, fearing mistakes.

But of course Gu Juntian made no mistakes.

He had the original’s memories, plus his own immense mental power — piloting a warship was nothing to him.

In fact, once he got started, it felt as if the ship was an extension of his own body, moving with perfect smoothness.

Gu Juntian’s command ship was the best in this star region — small, but armed to the teeth. In his hands, it rolled, twisted, and launched attacks from impossibly tricky angles.

The crew hurried to steady themselves, dizzy from the maneuvers, and only relaxed when the ship finally stopped.

Everyone had said their Lieutenant General was only good at commanding and weak in other areas — and now it seemed true.

They had never seen anyone pilot a warship like this before!

They hoped he’d never do it again.

Just as they were thinking this, they saw the corpse of a high level Zerg floating in space.

Wait — wasn’t that the one the Lieutenant General had been attacking just now?

Had their Lieutenant General just piloted a warship and killed a high level Zerg?

While most were stunned, several A-level Alphas on board looked at Gu Juntian with eager eyes. “General, how did you do that?”

They were strong enough not to lose sight of the battle outside — and they had clearly seen their  general kill the Zerg.

The scene had been spectacular!

They had never imagined it could be done like that.

They’d always thought their Lieutenant General was only good at commanding and inferior to Zhou Qinghao otherwise, but now… they realized they had underestimated him.

Gu Juntian replied, “I could do it because my mental power is strong. You can’t.”

The A-level Alphas: “…”

“Don’t just stand there,” Gu Juntian added. “Go clear out those mid-level Zergs.”

After that, he sat back in the command seat and watched Zhou Qinghao fighting the remaining high level Zerg.

With only one left, Zhou Qinghao quickly gained the upper hand.

If the Zerg hadn’t summoned a swarm of mid-level ones to help, it would already be dead.

Even with help, it didn’t last long — soon it too became a corpse.

Zhou Qinghao’s combat form was dazzling.

Gu Juntian looked at the giant mech, eager to meet the man inside.

Just then, he saw Zhou Qinghao piloting the mech toward him.

Standing up, Gu Juntian went to greet him.

Zhou Qinghao landed in the mech bay, opened the cockpit, and climbed down.

Before Gu Juntian had arrived, he had been fighting for a long time — now he was drenched in sweat and utterly exhausted.

He wanted to rest, but since a Lieutenant General had come to support him, as a m major general he should express his thanks.

He also wanted to see Gu Juntian.

Zhou Qinghao thought there was no saving himself.

He knew full well that Gu Juntian disliked him, that Gu Juntian looked down on him — and yet he still wanted to see him.

With a wry smile, he walked toward the command cabin.

He knew this ship well; in the past, many of their battle plans had been drawn up here.

At the time, he had thought Gu Juntian simply disliked his being an Alpha, that their pheromones repelled each other.

He hadn’t realized that Gu Juntian had only been using him from the start.

From now on, he would slowly distance himself from Gu Juntian, then find a reason to break up.

Determination flashed in his eyes.

His family had all died in Zerg jaws — since childhood, he had sworn to kill them all.

He could die in battle, but he would not be exiled to some trash planet without cause.

Thinking this, he saw Gu Juntian approaching.

The tall Alpha strode toward him with a group, black hair and eyes, imposing presence, his crisp Lieutenant General’s uniform making him look even more handsome.

Zhou Qinghao stopped, unable to look away.

He remembered the first time he’d seen Gu Juntian.

That day, it felt like his heart had been struck hard.

He had never liked anyone before — then suddenly, he liked someone of the same gender.

Now, his feelings surged uncontrollably.

When Zhou Qinghao saw him, Gu Juntian saw him too.

The young major general was dripping with sweat, his combat suit clinging to him and outlining his perfect build.

Gu Juntian’s heartbeat sped up, his breath quickened, and he couldn’t look away.

A strange emotion welled up in him, leaving him bewildered.

What was happening? Could it be… love at first sight?

Zhou Qinghao looked tired — should he tell him to rest?

If only he’d arrived faster. After killing his own Zerg, he should have gone to help Zhou Qinghao right away…

All sorts of thoughts flashed through Gu Juntian’s mind — then a cool scent hit his nose, rushing to his head and instantly sobering him.

Zhou Qinghao’s pheromones — cool, yet aggressive, like mint — still lingered from the fight.

The urge to hug and kiss vanished, replaced by the urge to fight him.

No, this wasn’t love at first sight.

His quickened heartbeat was just the desire to spar.

Two Alphas should never be together — their pheromones repelled each other, making them want to fight upon contact.

Gu Juntian thought through all this in a flash, then said, “Major General Zhou, you must be tired. Go lie down in the medical pod.”

“No need,” Zhou Qinghao said. He didn’t need medical attention right now — he wanted to talk to Gu Juntian.

“Go. That’s an order. I’ll handle the rest of the battle,” Gu Juntian said.

Killing a high level Zerg was no easy feat, and Zhou Qinghao had depleted his mental power.

Gu Juntian had him taken to rest, with medics to tend to him.

The original owner would have done the same, so no one found it strange.

But Gu Juntian himself felt something was off.

The battle was still going, so he quickly set that aside and contacted Weir, whom he’d sent to guard Zhou Qinghao’s base.

Weir, a tall blond man over 1.9 meters, answered: “Lieutenant General, you’re a prophet! Zergs really did attack Major General Zhou’s base — we’re fighting them now!”

Gu Juntian said, “Be careful. We’ve encountered three high level Zergs here — you might have one too.”

In the original story, Zhou Qinghao’s base had indeed been attacked by a high level Zerg, with heavy losses.

“I’ll be careful— Damn! Lieutenant General, there really is a high level Zerg! This is my first time seeing one!” Weir’s excited voice came through, then the call cut off.

Seeing that the mid- and low-level Zergs outside were in disarray, Gu Juntian ordered the fleet to head for Zhou Qinghao’s base.

With Weir’s strength, he couldn’t kill an advanced Zerg.

But if they went now, they might be able to take it down.

Four high level Zergs — such a record could get Zhou Qinghao promoted to major general.

The original owner had taken advantage of him enough; it was time to give something back.

Zhou Qinghao’s mech was one the original had discarded — he could give him a better one.

His own mech was excellent, and the original had even bought two, keeping one brand-new as a spare.

That spare could be given to Zhou Qinghao for now, then replaced with a custom one later…

Thinking of this, Gu Juntian remembered the matter of breaking up.

Zhou Qinghao clearly liked him a lot — just now, his eyes had been glued to him.

If he broke up now, would it affect his combat state?

Maybe he shouldn’t break up yet.

That way, he could give the mech as an “18-year anniversary” gift.

Thinking of the number 18, Gu Juntian fell silent.

The original owner and Zhou Qinghao had indeed been together many years — without so much as holding hands, let alone kissing, which was absurd.

But two Alphas together would naturally repel each other’s pheromones and avoid intimacy — that couldn’t be helped.

Right now, he just really wanted to spar with Zhou Qinghao.

Come to think of it, Zhou Qinghao’s pheromones suited him — cool, yet enticing…

Gu Juntian suddenly went quiet.

Why was his mind full of Zhou Qinghao?
