Interstellar president (18): Zhou Qinghao lay down with a smile, he felt a little crazy.

“So much information!”

“A tiger doesn’t eat its cubs, but Zhou Jinhai’s actions are terrifying!”

“Fortunately, Zhou Qinghao noticed something was wrong and reported it in time. Otherwise, who knows how long that private laboratory would’ve continued to exist.”

“Zhou Jinhai was trying to throw Zhou Qinghao under the bus, wasn’t he? But he didn’t expect that the lab was reported by Zhou Qinghao, so from the start, the police didn’t believe a word he said.”

“So Zhou Qinghao took Gu Juntian away not to covet his body, but to protect him?”

“He’s really a public-spirited citizen, Zhou Qinghao.”

The police presented plenty of evidence, enough to clear Zhou Qinghao of suspicion.

Zhou Qinghao’s reputation online turned around instantly. Many people apologized to him, while Zhou Jinhai became a target of public outrage.

What frightened the public most were the atrocities committed by the people in that lab, which the police had made public.

Many of the researchers who had been relocated and later apprehended already had criminal records.

Their crimes were countless and beyond description.

And the reason they had survived and lived comfortably for so long was because someone had been backing them behind the scenes.

There was more than one official involved in this case. Those people had long lost their humanity in order to prolong their lives.

The incident caused a massive uproar. Many people stayed up all night refreshing online updates.

But Gu Juntian and Zhou Qinghao slept soundly.

When they woke up the next morning and turned off do-not-disturb mode, their communication terminals started ringing nonstop.

Gu Juntian replied to a few people, including his mother.

After the private laboratory was exposed, Gu Juntian had asked Director Zhang to send someone to bring his mother over. She was now staying at Director Zhang’s home.

Over the past few days, Gu Juntian had taken some time to contact her and reassure her.

She had gone to bed early the night before and wasn’t aware of what was happening online until she saw the news in the morning. She immediately contacted Gu Juntian and furiously cursed Zhou Jinhai.

The person she hated most now was Zhou Jinhai.

It was one thing for him to deceive her feelings—but he even tried to kill her child!

After comforting his mother and assuring her he was fine, Gu Juntian turned to check the messages sent by Director Zhang.

Director Zhang had sent him many updates. The main one was that they had conducted over a hundred clinical trials the previous night. Most were successful, with only two failures.

Although two cases had failed, it wasn’t because of the drug. The two patients who received the treatment were already on the verge of death.

The gene therapy drug could promote self-healing in patients, but if a patient’s condition was already too severe… it was not a miracle drug, so it couldn’t help.

Regardless, over a hundred people recovering was already an exciting result.

Currently, the lab was working overtime to check these people’s genetic profiles to prevent possible mutations.

However, at this stage, their genes appeared extremely stable—more stable than those of anyone else in the world.

The government hoped the gene therapy drug could hit the market as soon as possible, so they had mobilized countless people to test it. Director Zhang was running around endlessly.

Only Gu Juntian was still working regular hours.

He felt a bit guilty.

Seeing the state Director Zhang was in, had he gone another night without sleep?

Even though there were now many ways for people to stay energetic without sleep, the lack of rest was still not good for anyone.

Director Zhang was already at an advanced age—he still needed to sleep.

Gu Juntian planned to talk to Director Zhang later and persuade him to get proper rest.

As for the news online about Zhou Jinhai going to prison… Gu Juntian had known the outcome for a while. He glanced at it and didn’t look further.

It was Zhou Qinghao who had a lot of related matters to deal with.

Not long ago, many people were scrambling to distance themselves from Zhou Qinghao and the Zhou family’s company, but now those same people were crawling back.

“Qinghao, something’s come up at the lab. I’m heading over first,” Gu Juntian said, giving a quick heads-up before leaving in a hurry.

Things had really piled up at the lab recently.

“Alright,” Zhou Qinghao responded with a smile, watching Gu Juntian leave.

He fully supported Gu Juntian being busy with his career.

If Gu Juntian was passionate about his work, then he wouldn’t be too heartbroken when Zhou Qinghao eventually passed away from his illness.

Gu Juntian had no idea what Zhou Qinghao was thinking.

He rushed to the lab and was immediately surrounded by a large group of researchers.

“Mr. Gu, you’re incredible!”

“Mr. Gu, this world might change because of you!”

“Mr. Gu, all those suffering from gene collapse syndrome will be grateful to you!”

Everyone crowded around Gu Juntian.

Gu Juntian looked toward Director Zhang. “Director Zhang, I’d like to see the data from those who received clinical treatment.”

Director Zhang readily agreed and handed over the data.

Gu Juntian said, “Director Zhang, is there anything you need me to explain? If not, I’ll get back to my research.”

There were indeed some questions for Gu Juntian to answer, but not many.

He had already developed the drug and had demonstrated its preparation several times in front of everyone, including the AI.

Now, the AI could reproduce the exact same drug, which meant they could fully let Gu Juntian move on to other areas of research.

Director Zhang asked a few questions, and after receiving Gu Juntian’s answers, he let him go back to work.

Gu Juntian first carefully reviewed the post-injection reactions of every patient who had received the gene therapy drug.

This took the entire morning.

At noon, he didn’t go home. He simply ate some nutritional paste and started preparing more of the gene therapy drug.

This time, he made two doses.

One for Zhou Qinghao, and one for himself.

Last night, the AI-controlled robots had prepared more of the drug, and most of those who used it had fully recovered.

With so many successful cases already, Gu Juntian was now confident that Zhou Qinghao would be fine.

He didn’t finish preparing the two doses until the end of the workday. Then he went to Director Zhang and mentioned his intention to give the drug to Zhou Qinghao.

Director Zhang said, “The drug hasn’t hit the market yet. Have him sign a volunteer agreement first.”

The drug was developed by Gu Juntian, and if he wanted to use it on Zhou Qinghao, no one could stop him.

But it was still best to follow protocol.

“Okay,” Gu Juntian agreed.

When he returned to his own lab, dinner was already ready, but Zhou Qinghao hadn’t eaten. He was working through some documents while waiting.

“Qinghao!” Gu Juntian called out, then hugged Zhou Qinghao and kissed him.

Zhou Qinghao noticed that Gu Juntian seemed especially happy today and smiled as he asked, “Did your experiments go well today?”

Gu Juntian replied, “Yes! Qinghao, I’ve developed a drug that can cure gene collapse syndrome. Soon, you’ll be healed.”

Zhou Qinghao stared at him in a daze, not quite processing it.

Gu Juntian pulled out the drug he’d brought back and said, “It’s already been tested in many clinical trials. It should be safe. Qinghao, if you sign a volunteer agreement, you can use it.”

Zhou Qinghao found it hard to believe.

A cure for gene collapse syndrome—developed so easily?

And according to Gu Juntian, he had created it himself.

Could that be possible?

But Gu Juntian looked so serious, Zhou Qinghao wanted to believe him.

Honestly, there was no harm in believing.

He was dying anyway.

“I’ll sign it right now. Where’s the agreement?” Zhou Qinghao asked.

Gu Juntian handed him the agreement, and Zhou Qinghao signed it without hesitation. Then he asked, “When will I take the drug?”

Gu Juntian replied, “Let’s eat dinner first. After that, you’ll lie down in the medical pod in the lab, and I’ll administer the drug.”

Zhou Qinghao smiled. “Alright.”

They quickly finished eating, and Gu Juntian took Zhou Qinghao into his lab.

All the researchers in Gu Juntian’s lab had been transferred to Director Zhang’s side, so at the moment, there were no other researchers there—only Gu Juntian and Zhou Qinghao.

Gu Juntian had Zhou Qinghao lie down in the medical pod to prepare for the injection.

Zhou Qinghao smiled as he lay down, thinking to himself how crazy this all was.

He never imagined he would one day be lying in an empty lab, testing a drug developed by a young man who had only been doing research for a month.

All kinds of thoughts crossed his mind—like what would happen to Gu Juntian if something went wrong. Would he be heartbroken?

He was willing to die at Gu Juntian’s hands, but he didn’t want Gu Juntian to suffer.

Zhou Qinghao looked at Gu Juntian and said, “Gu Juntian, there’s something I never told you—my genetic stability is very poor. None of the anti-gene collapse treatments have worked for me… I don’t have much time left.”

He was near death anyway, so even if he did die, it wouldn’t be Gu Juntian’s fault.

“I know.” Gu Juntian kissed him and helped him lie down.

Once Zhou Qinghao was in position, Gu Juntian immediately administered the drug.

He simply had to inject it into the designated medication slot outside the medical pod, and the pod would automatically deliver the dose to Zhou Qinghao.
