Bloody Hospital (6): Dawn

Xia Ruize stood at the front of the team and led the team towards the administrative building.

Although he was responsible for clearing the way, Xia Ruize was in the most relaxed state because his [Eye of Wisdom] skill had a very strong restraining effect on spirits. With a glance, the white phantoms blocking his way were swallowed up by the small golden flames.

Cheng Huaiqian and Gao Hexuan followed Xia Ruize on his left and right, and they only had to deal with the phantoms rushing towards them from the side.

After the bald boy and the burly man took charge, the young woman walked in the middle of the team. Interestingly, the young woman’s means of attack was the black cat in her arms.

Whenever a phantom tried to approach the young woman, the ever-vigilant black cat would show its sharp claws and deliver a set of meow punches to the invading enemy. After learning this lesson, the phantom would instantly shrink by half its size.

So while moving forward quickly, the young woman still maintained an elegant posture.

Before the Blood phantom surrounded them on a large scale, the group broke through layers of obstacles and finally rushed to the door of the administrative building. The door of the administrative building that was impossible to approach during the day could now be easily pushed open. Inside the door was a spacious high-ceiling hall, facing the stairs and the second-floor corridor, and on both sides of the stairs were the first-floor corridors.

The burly man who finally ran in slammed the glass door of the administrative building shut. As expected, the large amount of phantoms were locked outside the door and could not penetrate the glass door.

Some of the phantoms that were crowding outside the door drifted back to the garden because they lost their target, while the remaining phantoms began to bang on the glass door, trying to enter the administration building.

Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian moved the reception desk in the lobby on the first floor of the administrative building to the door and blocked the glass door.

“This is not a long-term solution. We must hurry up and look for clues.” Cheng Huaiqian looked at the crumbling glass door and spoke quickly, “Let’s divide the work. The three of you will check the right corridor, and the three of us will check the left corridor.” After that, he grabbed Xia Ruize and ran to the back.

The three burly men had no objection. They were human and would get tired, but the phantoms seemed endless. After killing for a long time, their numbers did not decrease but increased. If this continued, even if they killed dozens of phantoms, they would eventually be overwhelmed by the vast number of phantoms.

The six people who reached a consensus immediately ran towards the hall. After running a few steps, Cheng Huaiqian and Xia Ruize, who were originally running in the front, suddenly stopped. The others saw the scene clearly and were pulled to stop in a daze.

The reason was simple: phantoms appeared in the corridors on both sides of the first floor and in the stairs connecting the first floor to the second floor. There were not just a few, but several piles of them!

The densely packed and even overlapping phantoms made one’s scalp tingle. It seemed as if they had sensed the presence of the intruder at the same time and were pressing towards the human.

Compared with the density of the phantoms in the administration building, the phantoms in the garden were sparse, and those in the inpatient building were even more sporadic. What was particularly bad was that half of the phantoms in the administration building were red.

From light red to red so intense that it looked like blood, they had it all!

Xia Ruize’s expression did not look good either. His spatial backtracking was always turned on. There were obviously not so many phantoms in the administrative building before. Where did they come from?

“Blah!”

Just as the six people were discussing countermeasures with grim faces, the glass door in front of the administration building finally broke into pieces, and the phantoms crowded outside the door swarmed in.

“We can’t split up our forces. We have to defend one room to the death.”

Cheng Huaiqian immediately changed his original plan and dragged Xia Ruize into a room next to the staircase.

The current situation is that there were too many enemies. Even if they worked together, they may not be able to hold out for long. If they divided their forces, they would only die faster, and they would not be able to investigate the situation in the administrative building.

Except for Gao Hexuan, the other three also understood the current situation and rushed into the room immediately.

This was a filing room. In the small room were several rows of filing cabinets crowded with various documents and files.

The door of the archive room was very small, which limited the number of phantoms that could squeeze in front of the door at the same time, thus alleviating the combat pressure on the six people to a certain extent.

The six trialers with rich combat experience quickly worked out the most advantageous formation and cooperated to guard the small door of the archive room to ensure that the phantoms could not really rush in.

In order to ensure the battle lasted, they even arranged for them to take turns to rest.

Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian stood at the two sides of the formation respectively, because their skills would make the least movement and require less space.

After all, the already narrow room needed to leave enough space for the bald boy who used the broadsword and the tall and strong man to display their skills.

But Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian were under a lot of pressure. Among the six people, they were the fastest in dealing with phantoms, and the others needed a certain amount of time to fight. This meant that the two of them needed to quickly adjust their attack strength according to the number of phantoms rushing over, and reasonably distribute the pressure that the others needed to bear.

The continuous high-intensity battles made Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian feel tired, mainly because this mission world was special and most of their attack methods and weapons were restricted. They could only repeatedly use a few methods that were effective against spirits, which inevitably consumed a lot of energy.

Gradually, Xia Ruize felt dizzy and his eyes began to hurt. He was no longer able to resist the mental attacks from the phantoms, which he could easily block before. The screams that came one after another made him feel the weakness of insufficient mental strength for the first time.

Even in the most tense battle, Cheng Huaiqian would always pay attention to Xia Ruize’s condition. He was the first to notice that his lover’s condition was different, and quickly changed his defensive position, stood next to Xia Ruize, put his arm around his lover’s waist and let Xia Ruize put his body weight on him.

“There’s no point in holding on any longer. How about we both rush out on our own?”

Cheng Huaiqian was getting a little anxious, and was eager to find an effective way to deal with the enemy.

Xia Ruize nodded with a determined look in his eyes. There was no point in continuing to stay in the archive room. It would be better for the two of them to take a gamble and rush out to see if they could find a way to completely solve the problem of the phantoms.

Gao Hexuan had been fighting hard with an expressionless face, and had no idea what was going on after hearing this. However, the already pale faces of the other three people suddenly became even uglier. They knew that Cheng Huaiqian’s proposal made sense, but they were unwilling to let the two leave.

It might be possible that the two of them would find a solution if they left, but it was more likely that everyone who stayed behind would be wiped out before they found a solution.

Everyone had different opinions, and in a moment of carelessness, a red shadow suddenly appeared and completely enveloped the bald boy. Before anyone could react, the red shadow killed the bald boy, who was already at the end of his strength and was only relying on his willpower to continue fighting.

At this moment, Xia Ruize’s eyes went dark and he passed out.

Xia Ruize opened his eyes again and jumped up from the hospital bed. Unexpectedly, Cheng Huaiqian on the opposite side was faster and rushed over. In the end, both of them fell on Xia Ruize’s bed.

The two pairs of eyes looked into each other’s eyes with surprise. They looked around and saw that they were in the ward they had been in the day before. The bright sunlight shone in from the window. Without the obstruction of the bed curtains, the room was full of warm sunlight.

Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian had no injuries or pain on their bodies, and they didn’t even feel any discomfort from over-consumption of mental energy. They lay on top of each other on the hospital beds, and opposite them was Gao Hexuan, who sat up with a confused look on his face, and Li Hai, who had a frown on his face and seemed to be sleeping uneasily.

The phantoms and the tough battles seemed like illusions that did not exist at all, but the spoils in space told them that this was not the case.

“Are we having a nightmare?”

Gao Hexuan stared at his fingers in a daze. He remembered that his fingers were cramped from typing code due to the continuous and tense fighting, but now his hands were still flexible and natural, as if he had not experienced any high-intensity battle at all.

“We can’t share dreams.”

Cheng Huaiqian denied Gao Hexuan’s guess and gently touched Xia Ruize’s face with his hand. He still remembered that his lover’s face was frighteningly pale after the fight to the end last night. It was a pity that he didn’t have time to comfort him.

“I remember that we fell into a coma for the first time last night at 8 o’clock, woke up at 9 o’clock, and fell into a coma again at 10 o’clock. A full hour passed in between.”

Xia Ruize took the initiative to rub his face against Cheng Huaiqian’s hand, feeling the warmth of the big palm, and felt comfortable and at ease.

He was actually the last one to fall into coma last night. Before he fell into coma completely, he not only knew that the other five people were already unconscious, but he also subconsciously noticed the time, which was exactly ten o’clock in the evening.

At this moment, the nurse suddenly opened the door and walked in. Seeing Xia Ruize and Cheng Huai lying on the hospital bed, she was stunned for a moment, then immediately put away her expression and continued to push the cart in to deliver a tray of pills to the four patients.

The nurse was able to remain calm, but Li Hai couldn’t. After being woken up by the nurse, Li Hai rubbed his eyes, stretched his waist, and then saw the screen opposite. His expression suddenly collapsed, his old waist was also sprained, and he couldn’t help but stammering and asking:

“You, you guys, why…”

Cheng Huaiqian turned around, raised his eyebrows, and asked, “Did you sleep well last night?”

Li Hai was distracted by his question and shook his head subconsciously, frowning and saying worriedly: “Oh, I didn’t sleep very well. It seems like I had a nightmare.”

This time Xia Ruize and the other two were really surprised. Xia Ruize and Cheng Huaiqian looked at each other and suddenly realized something. Cheng Huaiqian jumped up from the bed and rushed out of the ward and into the ward diagonally opposite before the nurses could react.

There were also nurses in this ward distributing medicines to four patients. Cheng Huaiqian asked the bald boy in bed No. 2 by the window:

“Did you sleep well last night?”

After asking, he stared at the bald boy’s expression, observing his reaction.

“Hey, which ward are you from? Why did you suddenly run out? Go back quickly, don’t run around randomly!”

The nurse who was dispensing the medicine was shocked and angry, and scolded Cheng Huaimin in a sharp voice.

Cheng Huaiqian ignored him and continued to stare at the bald boy’s expression.

The bald boy just glared coldly at Cheng Huaiqian who was puzzled, and was not prepared to pay attention to this lunatic who suddenly ran out from nowhere and rushed to him to ask him how he slept.

Cheng Huaiqian understood immediately, and took a step to the side to easily avoid the push from the angry nurse. He turned and left the bald boy’s ward, ignoring the murderous look of the nurse in his own ward, and leisurely returned to Xia Ruize, smiling and sharing:

“Interesting, Li Hai doesn’t remember what happened last night, and neither does the bald guy.”
