Charity dinner
Time was running out. Even Zhu Yuchi admitted that Lu Yan had a good foundation, but one minute on stage required ten years of hard work off stage. Moreover, Lu Yan did not have ten years, but only half a year. Therefore, Lu Yan spent all his time outside of work on violin practice. During this period, he spent more time with Zhu Yuchi than with anyone else. Although Zhu Yuchi was not a violin major, it was not a problem for him to give Lu Yan some guidance. Sometimes the practice time was too late, so he just stayed at Zhu’s house. Gradually, the two of them felt like close friends regardless of age.
Lu Yan had a good foundation, great talent, and was diligent and hardworking, so his progress could be described as rapid. Zhu Yuchi couldn’t help but sigh, thinking that he was a good talent, but it was a pity that he didn’t take this path, otherwise he would have achieved something.
“Almighty Detective” was filmed from start to finish during this period. Although more energy was put into the preparation for the concert during this period, Lu Yan did not relax his job because of this, nor did he do it perfunctorily because it was a TV series. He still held himself to the highest standards for every shot and every scene.
The cooperation with the crew was also very pleasant. Director Cheng Shang knew that Lu Yan was busy, so he tried to concentrate his scenes together so that he could free up more time. Lu Yan’s high demands on himself also improved his efficiency and saved time.
When Qin Feng came in with the invitation, Lu Yan was selecting the script for his next movie.
“There’s a charity dinner next week. The two public service advertisements you shot a while ago received a good response, so the organizers have invited you to participate.”
Lu Yan took the invitation and asked, “Who is hosting this event?”
Qin Feng replied, “A famous lady in this city, Ms. Fang Qiong.”
Lu Yan nodded, “Oh, a famous philanthropist. Not everyone can attend her charity dinner.”
“That’s right. She doesn’t easily invite people from the entertainment industry. The reason she invited you this time, apart from the two public service announcements, is probably because of the upcoming charity show.”
Lu Yan smiled slightly and closed the invitation letter. “Such a rare opportunity, of course I must go.”
The charity dinner was held in the organizer’s private villa. Anyone entering that night had to hold an invitation. It was certainly inconvenient to bring an assistant to such an occasion, so Lu Yan went alone.
Fang Qiong was a real socialite, not just any so-called “socialite” who had some money, looked decent, and was keen on fashion. The Fang family was also a wealthy family with a long history in the city. Fang Qiong was both talented and beautiful when she was young. Later, she married an equally talented husband. The couple lived in harmony for several years, but unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Her husband was not in good health, apparently he had a disease from childhood. He passed away less than ten years after their marriage.
Fang Qiong and her husband loved each other very much, so she had no plans to remarry after her husband passed away, and they had no children. Later, Fang Qiong became keen on charity, and she would hold several charity dinners every year, and all the proceeds were donated to charity organizations. The city once awarded her a medal of “Great Philanthropist”.
Because the charity dinners hosted by Fang Qiong were completely private, although the scale was not large, it had had a significant impact over the years. Moreover, the guests she invited were all influential people, and the amount of donations raised each time was not small. Gradually, being invited by her had become a symbol of status.
Most of the people Fang Qiong invited were celebrities, or public figures who were truly passionate about charity. Over the years, not many stars were invited by her, and they were all those who had truly contributed to charity. Otherwise, no matter how famous they were, she would not take them seriously. Being invited by her means that she approved of your fame and character.
Every time Fang Qiong held a charity dinner, a large group of media would come. Although they could not enter, they could wait at the door to see who the invited guests were. All guests were required to show their invitations at the door before being allowed in. This also gave reporters who were not allowed in a chance to see the guests. Moreover, most of the guests did not mind the media attention and were even very cooperative. After all, doing charity was a good thing that deserved to be promoted, and being invited by Ms. Fang itself showed their own importance.
Although all the people coming in and out were celebrities in the city, Lu Yan’s appearance still attracted a lot of attention, mainly because he had appeared too frequently in recent times. After returning from Cannes, he had almost never faded from people’s sight.
Lu Yan was as calm as ever, and seemed unfazed by the situation.
Although not all the guests at the banquet had met before, it was rare that they did not recognize each other. They greeted each other politely, and some even took the opportunity to talk business.
Lu Yan held the wine glass in his hand. Although he had tried his best to find a secluded corner, his outstanding appearance was still too conspicuous among the men of varying qualities. From time to time, one or two ladies would find him and talk to him. Being a gentleman to ladies had always been Lu Yan’s principle, let alone on such an occasion. Although he didn’t agree with it in his heart, he still responded seriously on the surface. Most women were quite interesting and would just chat for a sentence or two, then politely walk away when someone else came up.
However, there were exceptions to everything. The lady in front of him had been chatting with Lu Yan for more than ten minutes. During this time, other people came over and tried to say a few words, but were scared away by her cold aura.
Lu Yan had heard of the lady in front of him before. Her name was An Qing. She was the female boss of Shengshi Group and was well-known in the city, not only because of her business skills that were no less than other men, but also because of her private life. She was not married and liked to date young and handsome men. Some people even said that she had kept several male stars as her lovers. It was said that the now famous Zhuo Yunting was once her lover, and it was with her support that he achieved his current status.
Lu Yan had heard of her before, but had never seen her. He thought she was an old woman who was unwilling to be lonely, but she turned out to be a mature, beautiful and charming beauty. She seemed very interested in Lu Yan. She came over to chat with him the first time she saw him, making no effort to hide her admiration and desire.
Not to mention that Lu Yan already had someone in his heart, even if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be interested in such a woman, even though she was pretty and well-spoken. However, apart from talking to him, the other party did not do anything excessive. Although there were hints in her words, they were not explicit. Lu Yan pretended not to understand and slowly negotiated.
Suddenly, a slightly happy voice came from behind, “Isn’t this Sister Qing? I heard from Sister Fang that you were here too, and I was wondering why I didn’t see you.”
The voice was very familiar. Lu Yan turned around subconsciously and saw Su Jue, who was dressed in a white suit and looked particularly handsome and elegant. He was giving An Qing a charming smile.
Before Lu Yan could react, Su Jue glanced at him lightly and gave him a hint. Lu Yan immediately understood and turned to An Qing and smiled, “Since you have friends coming, I won’t bother you.” Then he nodded slightly and turned and left.
An Qing was startled and was about to ask him to stay, but Su Jue moved and cleverly blocked her line of sight, and continued to smile and said, “Why aren’t you happy to see me, Sister Qing?”
An Qing quickly responded, “How could that be? It’s just that it’s rare to run into Young Master Su here.”
Lu Yan moved to a more secluded corner. When he looked over, Su Jue and An Qing were chatting happily. He didn’t know what Su Jue said, but An Qing was laughing. Even when a beauty laughed, she was still a beauty. It seemed that she had forgotten about Lu Yan.
Few women could resist the Second Young Master Su, especially when he deliberately wanted to attract the other party’s attention. It seemed that even someone as cold and aloof as An Qing couldn’t do it.
Seeing Su Jue reminded Lu Yan that he hadn’t seen Su Mo for a long time. He was busy recently, and Su Mo was also busy. Apparently he had a big case to cooperate with the United States this time, and he was in Chicago for consideration. Honestly speaking, if other people were in a relationship like this where they spend less time together, it would be a question whether they could maintain it, but that was not the case with Lu Yan and Su Mo.
They had not known each other for long, and had been together for even less time, but they seemed to be familiar and understand each other as if they had been together for more than ten years. Their attitudes toward love, work, and family were very compatible in every aspect. Moreover, for Lu Yan, a lover who was considerate but not clingy was more valuable than anything else. Although he may miss him deeply, it was also a kind of interest.
Thinking of Su Mo, his thoughts drifted away unconsciously, and were not brought back until Su Jue sat next to him.
Lu Yan glanced at him and said calmly, “It was done so quickly.”
Su Ju smiled, picked up the cup and took a sip, “It’s just an old woman who lacks love. It only takes a few minutes.”
“You are worthy of being the Second Young Master Su, and worthy of being everyone’s lover.” Lu Yan said seriously.
Su Jue glanced at him and said, “I took it as a compliment. But you are not bad either. So many celebrities and rich girls are attracted to you.”
“Same here.” Although he had not seen Su Jue before, Lu Yan could imagine that his situation was not much different from his own.
“I’m different from you. I’m single now.” Su Ju said meaningfully.
Lu Yan smiled lightly, not paying attention to the subtext of his words.
Su Jue couldn’t help but ask, “You and my brother, are you serious?”
“What do you think?” Lu Yan said lightly.
“My eldest brother has never been the kind of person who would play around, and you don’t look like one either. But do you really plan to spend your whole life with him?”
“There’s a saying,” Lu Yan smiled faintly, “Dating without the purpose of getting married is being a hooligan. And I never act like a hooligan.”
Su JuE choked. This man was still sharp-tongued as always. He cursed him without using a single profanity, and he had no way to refute him.
